Cattle prices higher now what?

Talked to my order buyer buddy and he said cattle prices were sky high monday. The largest up swing in the USDA market report was the highest (extream) $10 per hundred more than last week.
Where we live everybody is buying cattle like there will never be any more ever produced.
Could not give these cattle away at weaning now everyone wants them.
But they have one heck of a feed bill on them now also.

If this hopper population explodes, I wonder how many people are going to liquidate, or would they be more likely to ship them further away to custom graze?

What goes up must come down. I'm just hoping the price will stay up at least one more day... my calves are selling today. I know that sounds selfish but whatcha gonna do.

Been fantastic for bull sales- with folks being able to dump old bulls for $1500- $1800-- and go pick up young bulls- new blood ....

Thanks Dylan, I thought they did real well. My steers averaged 700 lbs and brought $118. I saved every heifer I liked and shipped the rest, they averaged 600 lbs and brought $112.

Great sale, Triangle Bar. As they say, "In business, timing is everything." Your timing and business savvy are to be commended.

Very tempting to sell my cow herd, custom raise some stockers and buy bred heifers when the market goes back down. I have some land I'm trying to bring back, if I could find dry cows that would be ideal, but I use what I have, cows/calves.

If the prices get like that up here we may have to let a truck load go rather than gamble on putting them on grass. Sure looks encouraging.

I sold 8 open cows of varying age from 3 to 10 years old they were open and skinny last fall so I opted to feed them until my land payment was due they averaged 1081#s and netted $773 a head which I was happy with. Looks like I own the land for another year. :D
