Cattle Producers Lose a True Champion
Billings, Mont. – Members of R-CALF USA are saddened to learn that Sen. Craig Thomas, R-Wyo., passed away after a battle with leukemia.
“He will be sorely missed,” said R-CALF USA Vice President/Region II Director Randy Stevenson, of Wheatland, Wyo. “He was a real champion for all agricultural issues. He also was a true friend of independent cattle producers and a true friend to R-CALF. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family.”
According to the Wyoming Republican Party, Thomas was raised on a ranch near Cody, Wyo., but made his home in Casper, Wyo., for more than 20 years. He attended public schools and graduated from the University of Wyoming in Laramie with a degree in Agriculture. After college, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He has served as vice president of the Wyoming Farm Bureau, and general manager of the Wyoming Rural Electric Association. Before his election to the U.S. House, he held office for five years in the Wyoming State Legislature. Craig is married to Susan Thomas, a public school teacher for special needs students. He has four grown children.
