Hi Everyone,
What are some of the greatest challenges that you have experienced so far on the ranch ? What has been the best thing that happened on the ranch so far?

Day-to-day survival in trying to outguess the weather, Uncle Sam, high taxes, testy livestock, and unappreciative consumers who have never been hungry a day in their life.

Waking up each morning and stepping outside without ever hearing any sounds of traffic. Even though my hearing isn't as good as it once was, poor hearing is not the reason this occurs. In other words neighbors are more friendly when they live a long ways apart. :)

I think the most challenging thing is summer draught. The best thing is having all my bills and expenses paid up and to still have a few dollars left.

I agree with you, I don't know what is happening to us, we are losing our values and not supporting those who are so valuable to our survival: ranchers, farmers, electricians, firefighters, among other groups of people. Taxes are always a nightmare, I can't believe that individuals pay 25 percent of their earnings in taxes, the same amount that corporations pay.

I am glad to hear that you have some dollars left to enjoy the rest of the year. Wish that was my case.

It appears you are failing to recognize all the imbedded and hidden taxes one pays just to spend what you earn or to keep what you have. ie..peoperty taxes, sales taxes, liscense fees, permits, franchise taxes, fuel charges, service fees...building usage on tuition....and so on.

It's how a $29 phone bill becomes $47.

Applaude you to know you pay 25% in taxes...most don't have a clue as to what is really kept from their paycheck other than $ and cents (which many get back yearly) nor to they understand what it costs and employer to provide the paycheck.

Our tax system is broken, there should be a different tax bracket for small business and companies like Procter & Gamble. Small businesses fall into the tax bracket as Procter & Gamble and some individuals are paying into this bracket as well, and they are not a small business much less a company like Procter & Gamble. I don't know if you are small business, but why should a small business be in the 20-28 tax bracket when I would think the business is not necessary making the billions in dollars as a company like Procter & Gamble. Is this fair?
