Did anyone hear Obama today when he told the Jr. Congressman that asked him about earmarks that he promised would not be in any bill he signed?
He actually said they was no earmarks in the Stimulus bill and by the time he was given the Omnibus bill that contained over 9000 he was to worried about the economy to be worried about having a battle over the budget, so he signed what was put on his desk.
Now lets look at what he doesn't consider earmarks
the stimulus bill contained
-- $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts.
-- $650 million for digital TV coupons.
-- $150 million for the Smithsonian.
-- $34 million to renovate the Dept. of Commerce headquarters
-- $500 million for improvements to the National Institute of Health facility.
-- $44 million for repairs to the Dept. of Agriculture's headquarters.
-- $350 million for agriculture department computers.
-- $88 million to move the Public Health Service into a new
building.
-- $1 billion for the Census Bureau.
-- $89 billion for Medicaid. Wasn't Obama going to cut funding to these programs to pay for the new health care bill. Why give them more?
-- $850 million for Amtrak. Is this not a bailout?
-- $87 million for a "polar ice breaking ship" Didn't Gore say the ice caps were melting because of global warming?
-- $1.7 million for the National Park Service.
-- $55 million for the Historic Preservation Fund. Is this so the Liberals have the money to rewrite the history books?
-- $160 million for paid volunteers at the Corporation for National and Community Service. I guess this is where our doctors got the idea of being paid for volunteering.
Can we agree that Obama did not tell the truth when he said there was no pork in the Stimulus bill? :?
He also said there were no lobbyist in his Administration and he has worked harder than any other Administration to keep them out.
Then he said he felt he was being transparent when it came to Health Care. As the committee meeting were broadcast on CSpan. To bad they weren't in the Closed door meeting like Obama promised they would be.
Olympia Snowe was on Greta the other night and here is what she had to say about Obama's bipartisanship promises.
When Greta asked about Republicans being involved in the deal her answered
They haven't been. She knew there were several Republican who were in the Finance Committee that were working in the group of six with Chairman Baucus, where the issue was being driven by artificial deadlines. So not much was really being studied the way it should have been.
She said they the DEMs. added 1,200 more pages, adding more taxes, Medicare payroll tax for example, then they doubled it and that would really impact small businesses after it passed out the her committee. And that all the back room deals came after the Committee vote. And virtually no amendments the Republicans offered on the floor of the Senate were included because we were denied that opportunity to improve it.

They had No time to sit and do it right, just push it through and figure it out later. If this was about what was good for the citizens they would have sat down with the Republicans and taken their time to do it right . It wasn't about what's right it was about CONTROL and they knew if they took to long the citizens would see through their plans hence the hurry up git-r-done attitude. We all know what happened then, the MASS. Election. If Teddy (God Bless his soul) had not passed away they would have got away with it, as they would have stuff this mistake down the US citizens throats before Nov. and took control of everything without so much as a blinking of an eye. CONTROL that is what they want and according to Pelosi if the gate is closed they will climb over the wall if not that they will pole vault over or Parachutte over the wall but come hell or high water they will get health care reform ie CONTROL.
