Hre is another SHORT list:
Diamond D Angus, Valier, Mt.
Rick Hanson, Froid, Mt.
Gary Funk, Mt.
Randy and Sue Peterson, Drummond, Mt.
Bruce Hould, Malta, Mt.

I'm sure OT can add to this list.
These are Wye bloodlines, Ohlde Bloodlines, etc.

Yep-- and Diamond D's sale is coming up Nov. 8th...I haven't got Gary Funks (Lustre Mt.) list on what he saved for bulls yet- but I know this summer he said that he went almost completely back to using Shoshone bulls- as they had been the main component bloodline of his herd- and he liked them even better than some of the Ohlde and Diamond D's he had used some in the past...I like Garys cattle-- quiet, functional sized cows....

There is a fellow in Poplar Mt named Reid (can't remember the first name- think it is Wilbur)-- that we have been hearing about having some nice bulls--he was advertising as having the same type bloodlines...I need to take a little roadtrip this winter and go look at what he has....

Oh yes, OT, Shoshone Angus, Cowley, Wyoming.
I think, as a general rule, the Shoshone cattle have better feet and
maybe more fertility than Olhde's cattle.

I have never been to their sale, but I have the utmost respect for
Diamond D Angus. I truly believe theirs is a PROGRAM, not just a hit
and miss of the latest fads. They have weighed the cows for years, in order to have a cow-calf weight ratio. They give you the age of the dam, as they believe longevity is an important economic heritable trait.
They did this on their own, for their customers, before any one else even THOUGHT of doing it.

Pure Country,

Thanks for the compliment! But just so you everyone knows, my cattle are different than Pharo. He specializes in calving ease and small cattle.

We calve with nature and graze like nature without much supplement. But our cattle are also easy keeping and but we have alot of performance, good bone, length, muscle, rib, good feet and legs, and work hard on udders. We feel that their is way more to it than just raising small easy doing cattle. I believe you still have to have marketable cattle that do it in the feedlot, since they are our only customers. If not then they will buy their cattle somewhere else. Our customers love performance and easy doing cows. You can have both. Plus our customers have been out selling all other colored cattle this fall, steers and heifers, whatever the weights are.

But again, thanks for the compliment, we really appreciate it.
