One down the line has satisfactory EPDs, or maybe EEPDs (estimated ear potential development).

Here is a link to the sire of the fifteen heifer bulls, "Sinclair Net Present Value."

Lookin' good, Have they weighed any lately?
Big swede those are nice looking precast bunks you have. Do you have them in front of a cement pad from the bulls to stand on?

Nice set of bulls Soapweed. How many head do you expect these guys to breed each the first year. They look to be in good traveling shape.

I like your bulls. They look to be in the right condition.

When will you bring them home? Where I am at, I have to bring new bulls home to acclimate to the feed, elevation and climate a little before turning them out.

Probably isn't an issue if they live in a similar area, however most people in my area aren't mad enough at a bull to make him live on this mountain all winter  , and so I must acclimate them!

Yes Big Muddy the bunks are sitting on the pad plus they have 12 feet behind the bunk to stand on. We haven't weighed them since they were put in the lot last October, but I would estimate they are gaining from 2 to 2 1/2 pounds per day. They get all they can eat of the ration and let me tell you, they like to eat.

I just built this pen last summer with the plan of using it as a bull pen and then the opportunity to feed Soapweed's bulls came. I have been using bulls from this herd for 10 years now and they sure have improved my herd. Mostly Jorgenson Angus genetics, lots of capacity and udder improvement along with great dispositions. I think Soapweed will like them.

Good pics, good bulls and a good development plan going there. Those rascals ought to last a while.

My program is to buy yearling bulls and then sell them after using them one season. If anyone needs some good bulls next fall, these will be available.

Some other bulls that wintered with mine have been taken out. Big Swede said they probably weighed them, but he hadn't heard the results.

We kept back 358 heifers, so I hope the fifteen bulls will handle them. That would be about 24 heifers per bull. I do have a small rented pasture that would hold about forty heifers, so if I put a couple different bulls with that many, the other fifteeen bulls would each only have to breed about 21 heifers.

I am hoping Big Swede will keep them until the day before we turn them out with the heifers, about the 20th of May, but I told him we are flexible and will bring them home whenever he gets tired of having them around. The altitude is about the same at his place as it is here, so that part doesn't matter.

Good choice on the sire of the heifer bulls, I like NPV. I used him on heifers this year and had no problems. The calves come out real easy and then bulk up pretty nice. Only have two heifer calves by him, but the steers and bull calves are pretty nice.
