Cheney comes clean on feelings about Torture!!!

—Former Vice-President Dick Cheney on Tuesday called upon the nations of the world to “once and for all ban the despicable and heinous practice of publishing torture reports.”

“Like many Americans, I was shocked and disgusted by the Senate Intelligence Committee’s publication of a torture report today,” Cheney said in a prepared statement. “The transparency and honesty found in this report represent a gross violation of our nation’s values.”

“The publication of torture reports is a crime against all of us,” he added. “Not just those of us who have tortured in the past, but every one of us who might want to torture in the future.”

Saying that the Senate’s “horrifying publication” had inspired him to act, he vowed, “As long as I have air to breathe, I will do everything in my power to wipe out the scourge of torture reports from the face of the Earth.”

Cheney concluded his statement by calling for an international conference on the issue of torture reports. “I ask all the great nations of the world to stand up, expose the horrible practice of publishing torture reports, and say, ‘This is not who we are,’ ” Cheney said.

Rush Limburger commented on it this way: "I peed myself a little when I first heard this!!"

The real point of the report, however, was not to blame Mr. Bush, but rather to say he was clueless about the program. A New York Times story alleged that Mr. Bush was purposely kept in the dark and that he was “once again been misinformed” about the effectiveness of the program (sticking with the meme that the Yale and Harvard graduate is a Texas hayseed).

Yet even that was wrong. He wrote in his book “Decision Points”: “I knew that an interrogation program this sensitive and controversial would one day become public. When it did, we would open ourselves up to criticism that America had compromised our moral values. I would have preferred that we get the information another way. But the choice between security and values was real. Had I not authorized waterboarding on senior al Qaeda leaders, I would have had to accept a greater risk that the country would be attacked. In the wake of 9/11, that was a risk I was unwilling to take.”

And he closed with this: “My most solemn responsibility as president was to protect the country. I approved the use of the interrogation techniques. The new techniques proved highly effective.”

Perhaps there’s a lesson in that passage for the current president as Islamic terrorists continue to behead Americans. He planned to “talk” with America’s enemies, but sometimes, a president needs to do more to protect Americans.

However he did it, I felt a whole lot safer when Bush was President than
I do now. Liberals need to realize terrorists don't care if they are liberals, they are still infidels to them and they'll do them in just as fast
as they can; and any way they can.

One thing about Bush, he never waivered. He might have not been popular with many in the USA, but he had the respect of other countries. He kept us safe while he was in charge. Reagan always said, "the best offense is a good defense." We don't have that defense any longer. Thanks, Obama.

Those that kill and behead Christians and Americans, as well as those that kill Muslims that aren't radical enough, for that matter, will be infuriated by this report.

I doubt that,..

In fact I would honestly say that I believe they were actually gleeful over the report.. as they can re-open that chapter and recycle the claims of how the infidels and the US should be punished...

In my mind Bush is still an idiot and Cheney is the Lord of the Evil Empire.....BUT....BUT....BUT....

......some things need to be kept a secret and the report on the CIA ....DID NOT need to be released.

I see that as foolish, reckless and it won't change a thing

Your boy Barry is more "the Lord of the Evil Empire" than Cheney ever thought of being. Barry IS Senator Palpatine.
Cheney loves this country enough that he's willing to do what it takes to protect it, including being "the Bad Guy."

:agree:

What I really dislike was the original post making a joke out of
dealing with terrorism.

Forgot the sarcasm alert. Agreed that it will just be more fodder for them to regurgitate. Shouldn't have been done at all. IMO.

I see the terrorists are now using UN vehicles to carry out their car bombings in Syria.

LJ probably feels the US should give more money to the UN, so the terrorists have a better chance in defending themselves...

I think that them using our vehicles is a slap in our face...

and the kick in the @$$ is the Iraqi's asking for more heavy equipment after they fled the battle field and abandoned most of their equipment..

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi asked outgoing Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel for more weapons

The al-Qaeda breakaway group has acquired heavy weapons and remains able to move between Iraq and Syria, Abadi told Hagel today.

“We are very thankful for the support that’s been given to us,” Abadi said. “Our forces are very much advancing on the ground. But they need more air power and more” heavy weapons, he said.

Maybe they would appreciate it more if they had to PAY for those weapons.
Nothing is respected that isn't EARNED. Even Dr. Laura will tell you that.
Geez. I guess they think the US is made of money. Haven't we acted like that; like there is no bottom to the money pot.

A friend of ours used to say jokingly, "never go broke in the land of plenty." That's the attitude of our government.

The Geneva Convention should have been followed.
Enemy combatants not in uniform fighting on the battlefield are to be interrogated and then executed.
