I would rather be lookin for parts for my silverado then paying Ford mechanics to change the spark plugs in a newer truck, considerin the alotted shop time is four days

I'll stick with a good 'ol chevy 350, but i was just tryin to figure out when they started with the 5.3L

Yea, a 350 was a sure good motor. As well as a 351w. If it aint broke, why fix it. I don't even know what my king ranch has in it. The big motor is all I know. Spark plug changein time was 1/2 a day by my old mecanic buddy from alabama. He cussed the truck then cussed me. 200 dollars. Labor. Yall must have them union machanics up there? They need to be beat with a oak limb. I got a old powerstroke. A 96. Its got over 400 thousand and will still pull a gooseneck load of hay.

No, it's on the '04's and up that have the stupid spark plug system. But I guess if you change them once, you will supposedly never have to change them again. And are you thinking of the 7.3 stroker? Dad just bought one with a new tranny and a full service deck for 4k. it's a '98.

All the 5.7L's and 350's we've had on the farm were solid. The only problems we had was some issues with the power seats on the '96 5.7 and my '88 went through fuel pumps liek they were nothin

Never heard anybody throw off on one. W got 17 mpg emty and around 10 pullin a loaded trailer. Bigest problem people have with them is the preheaters go bad and are high. Get them from international harvester. 20 dollars each but 100 from ford. Same heaters. I might be fixin to get a 67, half cab bronco. Bone stock with a 289. Its been barn kept for 20 years. Runs but the tires are rotted. 1500 dollars.
