Cheyenne Frontier Days honors Chris LeDoux
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

CHEYENNE, Wyo. One of Wyoming's favorite sons -- Chris LeDoux (leh-DOO') -- was honored today at Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Rodeo officials halted the performance to pay tribute to the former bareback champion and country music star who lost his battle with cancer this past March.

LeDoux's wife, Peggy, and several of his children stood on top of the photographer's pit in the middle of the Frontier Park arena. A video was shown of Chris onstage singing "This Cowboy's Hat."

Frontier Days General Chairman Ken McCann told the family and the crowd that LeDoux loved his family as much as he loved his music.

In a short, videotaped speech, Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal offered his appreciation for what Chris LeDoux had done for the West, for Wyoming and for Frontier Days.
