Little Rock - Police are calling it one of the worst bank robberies in Little Rock in recent years. Robberies have been on the rise in the capital city, but officials say it’s been at least 20 years since a bank teller has been shot.

Little Rock Police are searching for a suspect responsible for a hold up and a shooting at the Metropolitan Bank Branch on Rodney Parham near the intersection with Interstate 430.

It happened around 11:00 Saturday morning. Police say the robber entered the bank and fired a gun at 25-year-old James R. Garison, fatally wounding him. The suspect then moved to another teller, pointed the gun again and stated, "Give me all of it." The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money. Before leaving, the suspect told the teller, "Merry Christmas."

At least two other employees and three customers were inside at the time of the robbery. They’re not the only ones shaken by the vicious crime.

(Shirley Price, Bank Customer) "It’s really scary because I started to go to the bank earlier and didn’t go."

(Janet Saulters, Bank Customer) "I knew this guy and this is sad. I’m dumb-founded. I cannot believe that this goes on in so called the better part of Little Rock."

Garison was transported to Baptist hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death is recorded as the city’s 55th homicide of the year.

The suspect is identified as a black or Hispanic male, 6'2" tall and 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue sweatshirt with the number 77 on the front.

If you have any information that might help Little Rock Police Department, you are urged to contact them immediately at 501-371-4660.

I was reading posts about this shooting on a news site here in Ark. Ironically, some are saying this is why we need to have guns registered. Morons.

How dreadful. We're sorry for your loss of a friend and the loss for the family. It is hard to understand how folks can be so uncaring. Our prayers for you all.
