Those type of setups run on computer sytems. I'd say they got about $20 grand invested. I'll hang my lights the old fashioned way.

There's a house like that here in town. A couple of years ago, it drew so much traffic and neighbor complainants, the city almost shut it down

Now grant, I get sick of seeing nothing but house after house of icicle lights, but this would make Clark Griswold blush, this house even has their own radio frequency

Here's a youtube video of it:

That was beautiful and very spectacular, MsSage. Thanks for alerting us to this fabulous lighting and music display. One of my all-time favorite songs is done with the Christmas lights.

I used to be able to play it half-way decent on the piano. That was before I chopped off my finger, so now it doesn't sound so hot. At least now I have an excuse.

You can get a basic computer controller for a few hundred dollars or go all out like the house linked in the first post. Two main companies manufacture this type of equipment, Light-O-Rama and D-Light. Some of the equipment is interchangeable between the two companies. It's easy but time consuming to do a good sequence. Also for hard core light enthusiasts, some of this lighting equipment is DMX compatible which allows them to add disc jockey and theatrical lighting effects and devices. This is just the basics on what these homes use. In case your wondering, I have a Light-O-Rama system, although not that elaborate, yet. :D
