Christmas poem from 1997

Found this and it's pretty much still true, except the part about the winter.

I used to write these and send them out as Christmas letters. Guess this is my Christmas letter to you folks. :)

Lazy, ain't I?

Christmas 1997

Winter was a wild one
We barely got by
But we done it some how
I sometimes wonder why

We put up with the Hell
That this life, puts us thru
Ranchin’ ain’t all that romantic
Seems we’re always in a stew

But I guess we can always quit
Find a better job and way of life
Probably be a whole lot easier
On our kids and the wife

No one is forcin’ us
To go out and do what we do
But when ranchin’ gets in your blood
Your addicted, it’s sure true

And we do live a good life
Even if the money, is kind’a short
We get to live on the land
And not in a damn trailer court

You know, the best gifts are given
When and where, we least expect it
And ranchin’ and our friends are two
Maybe the best gifts that we can get

So I guess we won’t quit you, or ranchin’
‘Till they sell us out, with all our gear
And we’re plumb happy with our gifts
So, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Guess things went well the past 9 years, Jinglebob.
Glad you are still in the game!!!!!!!

Good luck to Jinglebob, Jr. as he enters the ranching business.

Good poem, BTW. Thanks.

Oh, Jr has been in the ranching game a long time. It's just that now he has more cows than me. I still have more horses and LAND!

That is still good, even if it is 9 years old and I'd just as soon get rain in May and June than heavy snow in the winter. As I look out here at the sun shining and the brown, you had to go and remind me of those nasty winters 9-10 years ago when we had to plow snow to feed and all that stuff. bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr
