Training Reindeer To Fly
Have you ever gave much thought
to how Santa trains reindeer to fly.
Normally the law of gravity
wouldn’t even allow them to try.
Reindeer are land huggin’, creatures,
it don’t come natural for them to soar.
They can cover a lot of ground,
but deer flyin’ wouldn’t be any more
normal than an elephant tap dancin’,
or a sturgeon goin’ for a stroll.
For a lion to promenade a gazelle,
or an eagle to reside in a hole.
One day Santa said I could watch
him start a new batch of deer, and I
figured I was lucky to get to see
Santa trainin’ reindeer to fly.
It wasn’t taught in no manual,
Santa’s flyin’ teachin’ technique.
He said he does lose some deer,
even though they are at their peak.
He lines them on the edge of a cliff,
these flyin’ trainee reindeer.
He lovingly gives each a pat,
then kicks it hard in the rear
