We were used to ONE present each under the tree!! Imagine my surprise when I unwrapped a small "boom box"!!! I did not know til adulthood that that gift was because of some generous, anonymous person who grabbed my name off of a "giving tree" at the local mall!! Because of that, no matter how tight things are, I still manage to grab a paper angel off of a giving tree for some child who may otherwise have NOTHING under the tree!!!

He mentioned how the church youth group his Dad directed was going to some of the local senior's lodges and singing Christmas carols. So I got to thinkin', and some of us did the same thing in our hometown. It was kind of strange though, once we started singing songs, some of the seniors wanted to hear old songs they hadn't heard for years. Lots of requests weren't for Christmas songs at all, but we had a great time. It was good to just go and do that, if for nothing else to see the smiles on their faces, from an evening of anything but sitting alone in their rooms.
