Christmas question...

I was in 4th grade and living outside portland oregon....dad was lamed up with a broken ankle and money was tight (walk around the neighborhood searching for pop bottles to exchange for a box of mac 'n' cheese TIGHT)........but, we kids did not know it! We were used to ONE present each under the tree!! Imagine my surprise when I unwrapped a small "boom box"!!! I did not know til adulthood that that gift was because of some generous, anonymous person who grabbed my name off of a "giving tree" at the local mall!! Because of that, no matter how tight things are, I still manage to grab a paper angel off of a giving tree for some child who may otherwise have NOTHING under the tree!!!

It is simply amazing to see the smile on a child's face when you know that you have made a difference....no feeling like it in the world!!!!! Went to my boys' Christmas program (where they still sing songs of.....gasp....CHRIST!!!!!!  ) and some of the children there simply broke my heart!! One little girl sitting off to my left was wearing the prettiest little dress...did not fit right and was worn on the hem, but her smile glowed!!! This beautiful little girl broke into tears when she saw Santa walk in the door....she looked at her mom and said "See....I knew he'd be here, mama....I have to go talk to him!!"....mom was crying, too!!

Merry Christmas, nonothing!!! May 2007 be blessed for you and yours!!
:D :D :D :D :D

Mine would have to be when I was going through my divorce, and the worst of it was behind me, I was enjoying some time with a good friend who'd just gotten home from playing football in Belgium. He mentioned how the church youth group his Dad directed was going to some of the local senior's lodges and singing Christmas carols. So I got to thinkin', and some of us did the same thing in our hometown. It was kind of strange though, once we started singing songs, some of the seniors wanted to hear old songs they hadn't heard for years. Lots of requests weren't for Christmas songs at all, but we had a great time. It was good to just go and do that, if for nothing else to see the smiles on their faces, from an evening of anything but sitting alone in their rooms.
