Christmas tears

Sue went with me to feed this morning after we opened presents and before going to my mother’s house for a big breakfast and family.
As Sue and I pull up the corral to get the tractor out of the barn I could see one of the palomino horses on its side. It was my daughter’s mare Goldie. I petted her neck for just a minute and she was gone. We could see all over the corral where she had laid and rolled in the snow if only we had checked last night maybe we could have found her and walked it off. Our daughter got a new pair of chinks this year along with 3 horse books she out gowned but can still read( My Friend Flick, National Velvet and Black Beauty). Last year she got a head stall reigns and a bit.
Christmas has been a time of lost with my MIL dieing a couple days before Christmas 2 years ago and my grandmother dieing the day after Christmas when I was 6.
But there should be tears of joy too. That one would be born of a mortal mother and die for us that we may live again.

Sorry to hear about the horse...no time is a good time for that to happen, but holidays make it seem harder to deal with. Sure hope your daughter is strong and not let this sad event get her down...take care

Sorry about the palomino mare. They can sure go fast with a twisted gut, and there's not a lot that can be done even if you're aware they are hurting. I've lost two nice horses, and one mule to similar situations. It's a sad way for them to go. You have my condolences.

I like your wise words, "But there should be tears of joy too. That one would be born of a mortal mother and die for us that we may live again." That keeps everything in the proper perspective. Hope you had a nice Christmas anyway, and that you will have a wonderful New Year.

Tenny will be in college next year she did good yesterday some boobing when we told her but last night it set in and there was allot of hugging.Tenny and that mare could bring cattle thru heavy timber and quakes that good cowboy would lose pairs in.
My older half sister had a palomino mare that came out of some first registered quarter horse in western Wyoming. My grand dad brought them out of Texas some with registration numbers below 2500. Got an old palomino gelding that now 29 years old that was the last colt my sister’s mare had?
thanks everbody for your comments and thoughts

She is six... And hasn't been ridden for several years, so will need someone to ride her before you put kids on her...

All these sires are on her papers....

Her sire is King Gold Money, which goes back to bar money which is three bars. And Miss Gold King Leo, by King Leo Bailey and Hunk Dumas

On the Dam side she is Miss Cat quincy by spot cat which is Debby's top cat and Skippers Lark.
And on the bottom side the Widow Quincy by Joe quincy and of course Big Red Princess.....

She has double registration papers as a breeding stock paint and is registered in the Palomino horse breeders of america...

She has never bucked with me, but was kinda goosey at first....
A cutting horse man broke her for me, so she does know cows and buffalo and really handles... Just shift your weight alittle.... She is my favorite mare, but is going to waste as I don't hardly ride anymore... No bad habits and is sound in everyway can catch her anywhere will stand for trimming.. I showed this mare as a yearling and was only beaten once.....
So I know she will have a good home
Price is $1000.00 And I will meet you half ways if you want......
