Went up this afternoon and got us a nice Charlie Brown tree. It looks pretty good, but I had to get after tha wife since she put too many ornaments on it. Can't hardly tell there is a tree under all the glimmer!!!

When I was a kid we would put it up a coule weeks before Chirstmas because it was a live tree (Well dead after they cut it down) and putting it up to early meant it wouldn't make it to Christmas. My wife was from a fake tree family and I am not going to fight her on this because if I win than that means I have to clean up the needles that fall out and I know me.. It isn't goign to happen so than I will have kids chicking on pine needles in the middle of june and we can't have that, can we? We went to put up the tree that she bought last year and it was trashed i our move.. Got wet somehow and all moldy... Oh well, maybe I will go get one again this year but maybe it will be a live one, lol

My artifical tree is up year round. It gets put in the corner of the basement family room with decorations still on. I don't mean to be a scrooge but I hate decorating for the holidays because then I have to take it all down again.

We got this tree free from the back yard- an old blue spruce's low branch got pinned under the soil and rooted sending up a new tree, too close to let it keep growing against the parent tree, so our grandson and mr. nr took the little one down. It wasn't pruned and shaped like ones for sale but we kind of like the natural look to it. Mr. nr draped all those beads on it like an electrical project :!: I thought we'd try limiting ourselves to blue and silver balls but looks like some other colors joined the celebration. It has been slurping up the water- have to keep adding twice a day. We put it up yesterday since folks were coming in the evening.[/img]

Yes, the reason for the season! It isn't about trees!
Interesting about the sprout, the tree it came from was the previous home owners Christmas tree probably 30 yrs ago. It is humongous now. Their son who grew up here stopped in one day to see the old place and have a walk down memory lane. He was amazed how his tree had grown and that the place he played ball is now a pond. :cry2: :cry2: And that we still had some of the same old kitchen appliances

Our tree does not go up untill Christmas Eve. Stays up till New Year's day. I take it down while the kids are sleeping.

The kids decorate it. I hand them an ornament and they put it where they want to. I do not move them. We usually have a color coded tree. :D

We know some people who grow beautiful Scotch pines and sell them at the farm. He prunes them as they are growing, and trees don't get any nicer and fresher! Good thing too, because we'll take it down after New Years Day, and then it's going to be used by a friend of mine the next week to decorate the hall at her wedding.

We'll probably go out and cut our tree on the weekend. it's one of my favourite parts of the season. Tromping around in snow past your knees debating over which tree is the perfect one. Then hot chocolate and a nice visit before heading home to set it up.

I can hardly wait.
