It's never too late, CRM. That is if you truly have the desire.

There are many more catagories of barrel races these days so
you can compete at your level, yet advance as you are ready.
I have friends who have started barrel racing and cutting in
their 40's and are successful at it.

I say, GO FOR IT! Do and and be glad you did, don't
wait and wish you would have...

Thank you faster horses for your encouragement .........now can can you tell me what to do with my almost 60 year old father who would be shaking his head asking if I was trying to relive my youth??? :?

I think cutting is a very neat sport. Awesome to watch the agility of the horses and their ability to know how to work a cow.

The funnest part of most rodeos is watching the kids compete!! The little ones riding the miniature bulls ("miniature", but some had awful big horns) and the junior barrel racing....in our July 4th rodeo, the junior barrel racers included a few young men who showed themselves rather handy at the barrels!! I love watching the barrel racing (junior and senior)...love to watch those beautiful animals and the ladies who can manage to stay on!!  We had one little 9 year old girl from Minnesota who decided to try her hand at the bull-riding....1.4 seconds later, she was on her rump, but what a smile she had on her face!! Course, I spent most of the event with my hands covering my eyes....the nurse in me simply cannot WATCH someone get hurt!!

I would tell your 60 year old father that yes maybe that is exactly what your doing, but by god atleast your doing what you want to do and your enjoying doing it! Your only on this earth for a very short time and it is way to short to spend it putting up with other peoples shirt and not doing what you enjoy! Hell with what he says or anyone says...if you wanna...and it will make you happy...then do it!!! And tell them to buzz off... Don't live your life afraid of what others will say about how you live it....live your life exactly how you want to live it as long as it makes you happy....thats the number one goal right there! Life's to short and you should never ever tell yourself "I wish I woulda"......no wishes....DO IT!

bye
