Cleaning Combines......

It was a smart move, but remember they didn't have any wheat income last year.

Some upgrades or needed purchases were put off likely and those costs may have risen as well.

I have a couple bins of heavy barley from last year, wish I had a dozen more as the price is pretty attractive for the heavy stuff... this years crop is light.

Geez, Jase, chill  I was only kidding

I was just pointing out something some might not have considered. It always looks great when someone can make a few bucks with a smart or even lucky move.

I am very happy for Katrina that they sold in a far better market... I wasn't being uptight, merely pointing out what drawbacks come with such a daring move.

90% of us would realize the point, but there are some that don't get all the details. I remember putting ag income in perspective for the secretary at the chiropractor's office. I asked her if she could function if one day in the fall her boss was to decide what her wage was for the year. It could go up down or sideways... she couldn't imagine, but it sure registered with her.

No need to chill 8) nothing worth getting uptight over. :D

Party at my House!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone..... But remember with rising fuel prices and maintaince it's not all that wild........ But we'll take the money and run...... Cal did you sell out???? I hope you did.......
Jason is right we did drought out last year with our spring wheat, but did have winter wheat.....And we bought some calves and fed them out with ours since hubby was home and not trucking.... Our plans for any extra money is to put it away for a rainy day.... Hubby needs a differant loader tractor so if there is any money left will maybe up grade our loader tractor...

Ag numbers can get pretty big and we sometimes forget people that are not from ag backgrounds read these pages.

There are definately 2 groups in ag. Some very wealthy and some not so well off.

The not so well off can still have huge numbers, but if expenses are high the bottom line is the same.

Others can build a big looking place from not much bottom line too, just a matter of budgets and sometimes luck.

Point made, Jase and I'm so proud of you! I sometimes get out of the "teaching" mode and just ramble

No problem Hanta, I seem to be too serious most of the time anyway. Maybe I've been online so long I have seen the negative reactions to good stories too many times. :D
