cold hearted fire?

Apparently Cranick failed to pay the obligatory annual $75 fire-protection fee for South Fulton, Tenn., residents if they want to get prompt hose service in the area. That’s why Cranick was left with nothing but a pile of smoldering rubble where his doublewide trailer used to be after firefighters refused to put out the fire engulfing his home.

After several calls to the fire department, the crew finally showed up but stood and watched as the blaze reduced the trailer to dust.

Even though Cranick’s house was technically outside of city limits, The Associated Press reported that South Fulton does offer protection to area residents, if they pay the fee. A neighboring house, whose owners were presumably in good standing, received the usual response, which fire officials refused to offer to Cranick even after he offered to pay up.

Cranick’s son was so mad about the incident that he reportedly drove to the fire station and punched the chief.

I could not have stood by and let a persons home burn.. it is just wrong..

if you have a truck, water and ability.. you lend a hand... simple as that..

in my opinion, the people of the county should go get a truck at least.. they are fairly cheap.. I've seen tankers go at auction for a few grand.. might have to be towed to the fire, . but they are cheaper then having nothing.
