We got started combining soybeans yesterday. And I thought I'd share some photos.

Thanks guys, we are supposed to have good weather until Sunday then it is going to rain. Or so they say, but it is looking good again this year. The lord has blessed with an excellent crop.

I don't know jack about beans, but that sure looks like a fine crop to me. There is a lot of beans on every plant. Thanks for an interesting post!

Thanks for the pics. Its been a lot of years since I've seen/harvested a soybean field. Thanks for the memories :)
Soybeans was our family's main crop when I was a kid. We also did winter wheat and corn and once in awhile barley.

Looks like a good stand. Are they hard to combine? Do you have to dry them?
Cowzilla the stems were tough, but the beans themselves were 12-13% moisture. Which is really good. They pretty much all had 50-55 pods and they were only 2 or 2.5 inches apart, and they grew in clusters of five on the stem. We aren't complaining with what we got we are just really glad we got what we got because we were short rain in July and August. And those are the two key months for beans. They are essentially made in those two months.

great pics........ I bet that the old massey drives pretty good being paid for and all. just take your time and feed it steady. Is it a gear drive or hydostat? what do you pull all those big loaded wagons out of the field with?

That is one fantastic set of pictures! Any part of the growing season is good but there is something special about seeing those wagons heaped with bean or corn standing at the end of the field at the end of the day.

Thank you for posting.

Kevin it is a gear drive. Those wagons were hooked together empty when dad pulled them out to the field, then when full, we unhook the 2nd and 3rd wagons and pull two at a time. Then come back and get the other two. We pull them with a 966 International. The wagons are only 260 bushel boxes, they aren't as big as they look.

Burnt you are so right, it amazes me all the time that, that little seed you plant in the spring turns into those wagon loads of shelled beans in the fall. It is a good feeling and gives you pride in the land, and a faith in the Lord above that he'll always give you something, it may not be great, but it will be enough to get you through to the next year.
