Subject: computer problem

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Harold, the computer guy, to come over.

Harold clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem As he was walking away, I called after him, "So, what was wrong?"

He replied, "It was an ID ten T error."

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, "An, ID ten T error? What's that, in case I need to fix it again?"

The computer guy grinned.... "Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"

"No," I replied.

"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out." So I wrote out .................

I D 1 0 T

I used to like Harold...

Speaking of computer problems the dentist that I work for has a cerec machine. And basically what it does is that you prep a tooth for a crown and then take a picture of the prepped tooth and then you fabricate a porceline tooth on this computer. So we were making this crown for this lady and the computer freezes up. We can't get it to do anything. So the dentist says we will put a composite in the tooth and do a crown another day. And being bashful like I am I say unplug the machine. Dr. looks at me like I am crazy. So I very kindly and gently giving him the pros and cons of the matter. He says we will loose all of our data. I say no I don't think so. So Dr. unplugs it and lets it rest for a few minutes. Plugs it back in and whaaalaaaaa. It works. We finish our crown, seat it and none the wiser. Although the Dr. did have to call me princess the rest of the day... :p :p 8)

I didnt know you worked in a dentist office Katrina. That's what I did for 8 years, up until June 2005 when I decided it was time to come home and take care of the ranch. I do hafta stop by the office ever now n then tho to catch up on things with Doc, and have a cup of coffee with him, let him clean my teeth, etc. LOL

Yup, One day a week. Fridays.... Got my foot in the door. I worked for him before I got married and a year after I quit. Worked off and on ever since. The gal that took my place has had some health issues, so she could
'nt work for awhile and none of the girls wanted friday, so I took it. And I just kept working fridays.. Of course during calving April and May I take those days off. This is the coosiest job I have ever had..
I love the people (imagine that) and really like doing the cerec crowns. Dr. Dave said I can learn to do them.. Program the machine and design them, so that is really exciting....
And having a paycheck is really good for my selfworth... It pays for carter's gas to go to school, and utilities.... And now when people wave at me on the street in town, they really know who I am rather than waving to be waving...

Even tho I've been gone from the office for a year, every time I go to town I see folks that are patients. They stop and talk, some already know I'm no longer there, and those that don't will say...I need to call you and make an appt. LOL
I do miss it sometimes, but I am really enjoyin bein able to stay here and do things that really need done, that wouldnt get done otherwise. Or that would hafta wait to be done on the weekends. It's really opened up our weekends where we can do things with the kids that when I was working we couldn't do because there was so much to do here.
We didnt make our own crowns in the office. Sent things to a lab. He did lots of dentures tho, and I got to be a fair hand at repairing dentures, taking the impressions, and pouring the models. It was fun and interesting work. No too patients alike, and I think that's a lot of why it was so interesting. We joked and kidded around all the time at work. Was a real fun environment to work.
As much as I was lookin forward to stayin home on the ranch, my last day of work, I bawled like a baby when I left. Old Doc even had tears in his eyes too.
LOL Now I'm gonna hafta go see him. just cuz of this conversation.
