We're gettting closer to the official release of FedSpending.org, a new user-friendly source on who's getting what from the federal government. You can test the database, using "beta" and "yoa99" as a username and password through October 6. Explore the site and play with some of the functions, but be sure to give us feedback when you are finished by taking a very short survery.


Congress Passes Continuing Resolution
Congress passed a continuing resolution to keep the government going in the absence of passed appropriations bills. Do-nothing, indeed.


Fate of Extenders Still Undecided
Sen. Chuck Grassley is trying everything to pass popular tax credits that are currently attached to the "trifecta" bill. But nobody seems to be listening. Now the House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas is having a row with Grassley over which tax breaks should be considered in November. And check out a good summary of what may happen in tax policy in the next Congress.


What's Next on Big-Picture Budget Policy?
Conservatives think we have "spending" problem, so we should cut entitlement programs. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke wants to cut entitlement programs, too, but he calls it reform. And the President continues to lobby for a line-item veto, which would grant the executive more power over the budget process.

our pocket book is safe congress is out of session.Best part of living in Wyoming is the short... very short legistlavie sessions...
