Repubs are already distancing themselves from McCain just like they did Bush as they're learning these Karl Rove smut campaigns just p*ss most people off anymore and portray you as a loser....

Just like Buckleys kid, who is a longtime acquaintance of McCain, said- John McCain has turned into an incoherent, irascible, and snarly old man as he puts his attempt to win the office over his ethics and the welfare of the country.

Republican leaders break ranks with McCain

By Stephen Foley in New York
Monday, 13 October 2008

Senior members of the Republican party are in open mutiny against John McCain's presidential campaign, after a disastrous period which has seen Barack Obama solidify his lead in the opinion polls.

And as disputes raged within the McCain camp yesterday, Democrats took another symbolic step towards healing the party after their bitter primary battles, as Bill and Hillary Clinton made their first joint appearance in support of Mr Obama.

From inside and outside his inner circle, Mr McCain is being told to settle on a coherent economic message and to tone down attacks on his rival which have sometimes whipped up a mob-like atmosphere at Republican rallies.

Two former rivals for the party nomination, Mitt Romney and Tommy Thompson, went on the record over the weekend about the disarray in the Republican camp. And a string of other senior party figures said Mr McCain's erratic performance risks taking the party down to heavy losses not just in the presidential race but also in contests for Congressional seats. Mr Thompson, a former governor of the swing state of Wisconsin, said he thought Mr McCain, on his present trajectory, would lose the state, and he told a New York Times reporter he was not happy with the campaign. "I don't know who is," he added.

Some Republicans seeking election to Congress have begun distancing themselves from Mr McCain. In Nebraska, a Republican representative, Lee Terry, ran a newspaper ad featuring support from a woman who called herself an "Obama-Terry voter".

Not this 'un.

He is not my first pick, but considering the two choices, he's got my vote.

Me either...I personally think McCain has been politically correct too long. He needs to back the messiah into a corner and nail him to the wall and find out just what this sucka stands for.

Exactly, he played PC and on Obama's terms. They did not engage the media properly, they did not stick with a couple of campaign themes from the convention that worked.

Either McCain was hamstringing Rick Davis or Rick Davis is incompetent. McCains communication strategy after the convention fell apart.

If I was the communications director for the McCain Campaign from the convention untill now McCain would be ahead on the polls.

One of McCain's spokesman was on America's Election HQ today, he did not know McCain's health care policy at all. I knwo it very well. I wanted to just grab the guy in the screen and shake him.

Republicans have not had a good communications strategy since Reagan told his advisors to buzz off and he took it over himself.

You have not had the ability to come close to any effective challenge of any substantive argument I have made, yet I have substantively, deconstructed and destroyed argument after argument you have made.

So if I am a maroon you are in FAR worse shape.

I was in the military 18 years ago....

And OT, as a moderator of this board attacks on ones mother are such low class that I doubt that the board master would appreciate you doing it. It is so immature and I doubt that it represents him well.

Bugs Bunny.

Give that man a carrot

I am thinking this landslide thing is more akin to the RoadRunner cartoons. I thought you folks wee being led off of the cliff. Now I see the ground caving out from under you and you all going down in a landslide. As I watch you go on this "landslide", the only thing I have to say to you OT is "beep, beep!"

Great statement...Reagan knew the mainstream media had been anti-Republican since Nixon(and before, but I didn't pay much attention before then), so he went directly to the people. If Republicans let the drive-by media define them, they are doomed. This has been Bush's problem...not talking directly to the people and letting the media define what he does. Eight years of anti-Bush coverage has fueled the "Hate Bush" cult!!! In this respect, Republicans are stupid!!!!

Indeed, the greatest leaders understand that true power comes from below. That has been Bush's greatest failing as a leader in his presidency.
