Controversy about Big Love

Reader I've never seen the show but I'd think if the show intended to show some ritual or ceremony of any church it would make every effort to be as accurate and realistic as possible. Don't see how anyone could be offended by truth and accuracy.

Some organizations consider some things sacred. Does the Masons and Eastern Star have "secret" or "Sacred" ceremonies?

I'm just asking. Maybe the LDS feels that televising a "Sacred" ceremony offends them.

Reader I am SHOCKED LOLLLLLLLLLLLL sorry couldnt get my southern accent and hand fanning going.
I have never nor will I ever watch the show.
I have a problem with TV taking liberties with religions. They tend to mock and take one part and make it as bad as they can for "showmenship"
I have learned ALOT about the LDS in the past couple of years. Some of their core principles are very worthwhile while some are a bit "different"
Only the far far extremest even consider polygamy as an option......and really what MAN would want more than one wife controling him? The wife is the final say in all things to do with the family...Dad Backs Mom up 110% Time for the family to sit down and eat dinner....Dad is there when Mom calls. No matter what he is doing.
But then so are parts of the Southern baptist a bit weird LOL YES I AM ONE and I eeeekkkk Dance

Yes, I agree with you. Their history is not shrouded by centuries having passed. I think you can extrapolate and come to understand that all religions in their beginnings are viewed with suspicion by others.

I have had business partners and colleagues who were Mormon but never lived in Utah. But today's news says it's one of the happiest states in the U.S. :D

hmm....wonder how you measure "happy"???

I found the Texans as nice as the people in SLC. Coming here was awful cuz people here are rude. But yes, every restaurant we were in they were wonderful to us, chatted us up and everything. The thing is my friend is a Catholic and not a Mormon and it's not so easy to live there if you're not a Mormon I gather.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Catholics are # 2 in membership in Utah. But still a very small minority. Mormons do put a lot of emphasis on family values, healthy activities, and avoiding smoking, drinking (even cokes and coffee). I'm sure they probably have lower crime rates than most other states as well, course you're always gonna have the occasional idiot give you're area a bad name.

Mormons are unique in some of their beliefs but I believe most of those come from the "Book of Mormon" which is unique in itesef.
