Corn

In my area all the ground has been in grass since at least the 50's but some are starting to plant corn with the current prices. I am curious if my area is the only area that's starting to go back to crops even though it's certainly very marginal ground or people are starting to plant marginal ground in other areas.

I guess to put this in better context we'd need to know in what part of the state you reside, generally speaking.

I recall that much of the northeast of the state of Arkansas was once a big producer of rice....subsequently soybeans I'd imagine. I'm guessing the SE of the state has also been heavily in agriculture too for many decades.

The NW? Not so much I'd imagine.

here they are starting to tear out all the fences and planting corn all the way to the bottom of the ravines . they can then get the ground in the goverment progams and get 30 dollars acre from the goverment thats what we pay for rough pasture. around here. but fo with the average age of farmers going up around here and my generation getting lazier it is easier to sit in a tractor seat 4 months a year then feed cattle all year long. makes me madder then a hornet
