but the 12 yr old lease hands needed a cot, to lay their weary heads

Tell me honestly, does this sound like complete bullshyte to you?

I've taken in kids for the last 25+ years- some for a few days, some for weeks or months- some for years...

Weeks, months, some for years. And did you notice how Obamaesque he is? I've taken in kids for the last 25+ years. Not, we've taken in kids for the last 25+ years.....as though his wife would have nothing to do with taking care of the kids.

Fat blowhard.

I think he once mentioned that his daughter was arrested for assault, stemming from a bar fight...she too was protecting those that could not defend themselves...

That family is just so noble hypo, it must be in their blood. It brings a tear to my eye to think of what Valley County would be like without them.

not to be sanctimonious.. but no one should be criticized for helping out kids..

there are alot of ways to do it.. and sometimes that means taking in a kid just to let things calm down at home and for the folk involved to realize what [email protected] they are and then get the kid back to his family where they belong..

I was a kid that needed a place to stay often..

and often I didn't have pressing dinner plans.. so when I was asked if I could stay for dinner I welcomed that opportunity..

I could write more and show some examples of great folk ,.. including our local sheriff. but I think most get my point..

even if it was only one kid, and it was long ago.. no one should be up here attacking OT for it..

as I read your comments I realize why many do not step up anymore..

Thank you Steve- I'm glad to see someone else that realizes the great feeling you can get by helping others- especially kids... Altho the greatest reward with helping kids often comes down the line as you watch them grow up...
This week one of the kids that stayed the longest with me- calls me his adopted Dad- will be coming back to visit with his wife and kids.... And what is greatest to see is how he again bonded with his real Dad who was an alcoholic (which caused much of the young mans problems) since his Dad quit drinking... It just took a while for both to grow up a little..

Don't forget. Folks are using the words "kids" loosely. Only about 20% are what most would consider kids. The other 80% are old enough to be fathers (and criminals) in their home countries and many probably are.

Nothing sanctimonious about it Steve. I just think he's generally lying about it, that's all. I do recall reading a post of his (don't recall how far back) about him "taking in" some Indian kid to teach him bronc riding or something along those lines, but that's the only mention I ever saw of anything of the sort. And as I said, we all know OT.....he never misses an opportunity to promote OT.

It's ashamed I'm this way with the old fart. I generally take people at their word though it's gotten me in a lot of trouble over the years. With OT, I trust what he says about as far as I could throw him and won't apologize to anyone for the feeling.

And finally, I'm not sure I understand the meaning of your last sentence. If it means many people do not "step up anymore" because of what others say or think, then they weren't doing it for the right reason anyway, were they?
