Laura Ingraham (who I like much better than Ann the mouth) was on TV yesterday discussing this.....She's been travelling across the country promoting her new book "Power to the People"--and she said its all she's heard across the nation- the frustration with the elected officials being told one thing by the people- but doing the other...She said that Republicans are the ones she finds most in a state of limbo--feeling they have been totally betrayed by Bush/Cheney but not knowing how to change anything...
She said that its going to take more involvement of the people- and getting a united word to D.C. like was done with the Bush/Kennedy Amnesty Bill......

Opinion Polls Still Bleak for Bush, Congress

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 10:26 AM

Deepening unhappiness with President Bush and Congress soured the mood of Americans and sent Bush's approval rating to another record low this month, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released Wednesday.

The Reuters/Zogby Index, which measures the mood of the country, also fell from 98.8 to 96 - the second consecutive month it has dropped. The number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track jumped four points to 66 percent.

Bush's job approval rating fell to 24 percent from last month's record low for a Zogby poll of 29 percent. A paltry 11 percent gave Congress a positive grade, tying last month's record low.

"There is a real question among Americans now about how relevant this government is to them," pollster John Zogby said. "They tell us they want action on health care, education, the war and immigration, but they don't believe they are going to get it."

GW's Disapproval
Sunday, October 21, 2007

Thirty-seven percent (37%) of Americans approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. Sixty-one percent (61%) disapprove. Those figures include 16% who Strongly Approve and 43% who Strongly Disapprove.

Congress Disapproval
Fifteen percent (15%) of voters believe that Congress is doing an excellent (2%) or a good (13%) job. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 49% say the nation’s legislature is doing a poor job. In between are 34% who say that Congress is doing a fair job.

Government Corruption
More than three fourths of voters (78%) expect the issue of Government Ethics and Corruption to have a Very Important impact on their vote. Another 18% regard it as at least Somewhat Important, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports tracking poll of Election 2008 Issues.

That's even more voters than gave the issue top priority in our August poll (74%). As they did then, but now by a slightly bigger margin, voters trust Democrats more (40%) than Republicans (28%) to deal with corruption. Thirty-one percent (31%) state no partisan preference, however—the highest abstention rate on any issue we surveyed

Health Care
Health Care currently tops headlines as Hillary Clinton rolls out her latest national health care plan, and Democrats have the edge here 51% to 35%—a bigger advantage than they have on any other issue. Our tracking poll finds that it's Very Important to 67% of voters.

But along with Government Corruption, even more voters find the issues of National Security and the War on Terror (71%) and the Economy (72%) to be a #1 priority.

Economy and National Security
Democrats easily gain wider trust on the Economy (48% to 36%). But they are essentially tied with the GOP on National Security (44% to 43%). In August it was Republicans with a wafer-thin edge on National Security.

War in Iraq
On the War in Iraq, the welling unpopularity of which has hurt Republicans more than Democrats, the latter are more-trusted by 49%, Republicans by 38%. The issue is Very Important to 62% of all voters.

For the second straight week, a Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 64% of Americans would like to see U.S. troops brought home from Iraq within a year. Prior to this week’s results, support for bringing the troops home had increased in three consecutive weeks.

Twenty-eight percent (28%) who want the troops brought home immediately.

Taxes
Republicans eke out a three-point advantage on Taxes, here being trusted more by 44%, versus 41% who trust Democrats more. But Taxes are in any case lower on the totem pole for many voters, being a top priority for just 55%.

Abortion
The parties are also closely matched on the issue of Abortion, where Democrats are better trusted 43% to 40%. Abortion is of top importance to only 42%.

Immigration
Forty-three percent (43%) trust Democrats more than Republicans (34%) on Immigration, presently a top issue for a bare majority of 53%.

Social Security
On Social Security, Very Important to 63%, Democrats have a six-point advantage of 44% to 38%.

Education
On Education, also Very Important to 63%, it's Democrats 47%, Republicans 36%.

2008 Congressional Race
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that, if the Congressional Election were held today, 48% of American voters say they would vote for the Democrat in their district and 36% would opt for the Republican.
