Wheeeewww it's been a busy couple of weeks. Lil Lilly started out the fair with the Speed Events on her horse.

She placed 1st in Barrels, 4th in Strait away Barrels, and 5th in Goat tying. I video'd everthang, but the photographer only got a couple shots of her.

Then she showed her ag project. She built a Veterinarian Horse Stock. Somethin that she's got good use for. Not only now, but in the future after she becomes a vet.
They had a team of judges from Blinn College. Their ag professor, along with some of the students made up the team.

Lil Lilly is quite a talented young lady. She can accomplish anything, and she's very pretty to boot. Congratulations to her for her abilities, and to you, Jersey Lilly, for raising her right. America is in good hands if there are young people like her coming along. :)

How you send her up to Canada-she can travel with my roughies and help them weld buck chutes and tree stands. Ty's buddy Austin will be smitten when he sees a girl that can weld better than him. He builyt a real nice bucking chute for his project. What is straight away barrel racing.

LOL @ smitten. She's been really lucky to have the Ag teacher she has. He takes time with all of the kids. Girls and boys. Although she's the only one that really likes to weld. But Mr Lilly spends alot of time with her at the shop too. I don't think many of the kids have the tools at home to really get to practice and get better at it.

She could prolly stand the travelin with them now....but come winter...she'd hightail it back to Texas.

Straitaway barrels, is three barrels in a strait line. Perdy much just a figure eight when ya git right down to it. Some call em figure eights.

We've talked about it, and instead of comin home with the horse stock, and mountin it on a concrete pad. I think she's gonna just hold off, and take it to the major shows next year. As an individual project. She'll still be able to show with the other kids on their group projects. They've gotten real good lately about puttin all your projects close together so that they aren't clear across the show barns from one another. That way if you've got a kid that worked on more than one project, they can be there present when showman ship judges stop to ask questions, and don't hafta run back and forth.

Is he willin to pay for her college too while she's up there weldin??? :p (this could be a good deal LOL)

Well I've never seen that done before-you know Lakeland College does have a rodeo team and a welding program and a heated indoor arena lol. I guess I could send a couple daughters south to learn how to barrel race and run a bead too. There's some guys up here run tipping tables for doing horses-I guess from when PMU barns were going good. Alot of rodeo guys hire them to do their young broncs in-they trim, castratye and brand them all in one shot-doesn't take them a whole lot of time either. Maybe building one of those could be lil Lilly's next project-those guys charge by the horse and not alot but they work so slick that it works out to alot per hour.

Never seen a tippin table for horses. Hmmmm...might be interestin. Round here, vets just give em a shot, lay em down, to castrate. Some still do it outside, in the grass at thier facility. But most of the bigger one's do it inside in their surgery room.

At the major shows this past spring, we did see one kid that had built a surgery table for a vet. It was hydraulic. You could lower it all the way down to the floor, then once you have your horse on it, then raise it up to working height.
The one that they done surgery on "Toilet Paper" was down in the floor (floor level at the time the horse is layed out) then it raised up perdy much the same way to working height.

She's planning on goin to Sam Houston State University. Here close to home for the first four years. They have an awesome rodeo team. Then after 4 years, she'll transfer to Texas A&M to their vet school.
But....there's a animal research center near us, that gives a full scholarship to your choice of colleges, as long as you are goin for some kind of animal science degree......she's shootin for that one, and if she gets it, then she'll go strait to A&M for all her college education. A&M has a college rodeo team as well, but they don't seem to do as well as Sam Houston's.

Ya know that KSU has the 2cd top rated Vet School, with Fort Collins CO being first,,anyway that's the statistics I got when we were college shopping. With my kid heading to KSU this fall, we'll be making trips down there,,so if Lil Lilly would go there too,,,then we could all meet in the middle to see our kids! How cool would that be?...lol
