That's a tough decision to make Northern. One that I have struggled with for a long time. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

That has to be a tough decision, especially since it doesn't sound like your pair market is real hot up there. Hope you find someone that can pay what they're worth.

Can you find someone who would take them on shares so when you are up and running you still have them?

Sorry to hear that, NR. I think there's going to be a whole lot more pairs hitting the market soon, just isn't any grass or hay to keep them over. I feel real bad for anyone who has to sell what they've worked to build. Alot of good cows are going to end up as some city people's supper, too. I sure wouldn't want to have to make a decision like that. It was bad enough selling ours when we did, but at least I knew where they were going and that they'd be well looked after. But even they are in danger of being sold in the not too distant future. :(

What have people been hearing for pairs right now? I have heard a range of $600 to $1700/pair on commercial cows? There is real drought happening in alot of parts this spring, with alot of people grazing cattle on the hay fields. Too early to call it a crisis yet, but definitely on peoples radar. Oh yeah, get well NR
