Cow leasing

We do it on a cash rent basis, so much per cow. Any cow open we don't pay. We pay when we sell calf's. Seems to work for us

The cash deal works the best if the cow owner has a few chips in his pocket. As far as shares goes, it might sound paranoid, but you really have to know how good the cows are. Splits around here (NE Panhandle) run between 60 and 72%, or so I hear. If you need to know how not to run cows on shares, p.m. me! Just started another deal, jury's still out.

I lease from my father in law. pay 6.5 % on each cow, valued the cows at $700 and I keep 100% of the calves.

it don't get much sweeter than that!

Jigs your father-in-law must really like you.
Around here most of the deals are 70-30 split on the calves at weaning.
