All American cutter racing association .
Years ago in Thayne Wyoming , milk haulers would lift their rack off the bob sled undo the trail tongue and stand on the front bunk of their sleigh and race each other down main street of Thayne.
Not many years later the World first cutter race association was formed. They used sleigh runners welded to cut out 55 gal drums and light harnesses on their saddle stock they had a moving start. Now days it aluminum chariots and triple A horses.

Love the first picture of the grays........Looks like they are flying..... They are really working together.......
The one picture of the sorrelys the one right hand horse is mad at something...... Look at his ears, my guess the other isn't pulling or in his space.....
If dad had a colt that was actin up in the harness he would just turn him loose with one of the old broke horses and they would shape them colts up better and faster than dad could...... He still chuckles about a old mare named princess....

Wouldn't it be fun to go to them races??

Every Saturday thru the middle of March there be cutter races in this area. Big Shiner invitational race in Jackson Hole in February.Caltutta’s the night before and then again before every race, here the 4-H gets the extra money, Jackson it goes to the Shiner hospital.
Neighbor up the road built some stocks and had a 3 horse tree on his sleigh. He had 2 old draft horses; He was trying to break some broom tails (wild horses) to harness. Still don’t know why he didn’t hook one wild horse up with the draft team instead of 2 wild horses with one old horse…… it looked like a cutter race him going thru the field.
Another neighbor had a 4 horse hitch harness think came out of Canada. Instead of 2 double trees, the back team had a short couple foot tug to a foot long tree the front team had a long tug that went to the bottom of that tree. Then a tug came off the center of the short tree back to the double tree. He broke a lot of young draft teams putting them behind a big old team.
