Just got a call from our great nephew,he just turned five.He had a bad riding accident Sunday, fell of his horse, dislocated his sholder, elbow and broke bones in the same arm. Took an ambulance trip to Edmonton{two hour drive} and had arm operated on and pin put in.When he got bucked off he told his mom...I think that damn horse just broke my arm,on the ambulance ride he kept getting his mom to wipe his eyes cause they kept "leaking".....I asked him tonight,"did he cry? His answer NO,Uncle Greg and Grampa Bruce told me "Cowboys Don't Cry" :D

I can relate to this...A couple days ago I had the grandkids- ages 5 and 7, and one of their 7 year old friends (same ones I posted pictures of riding my old horse) to babysit while their mother was working out of town....

Anyway they wanted to go riding and I was busy working around the yard and told them to wait- after about an hour I realized I had not seen or heard them for awhile (great baby sitter-eh  )... I finally saw their bikes near the corral- went out there and they were all on old Zip riding him bareback around the corral....They couldn't get a halter or bridle on him, so they just took a lead rope and fastened around his neck  When I asked them how things went- Gabe (5 year old) said he only bucked once (probably kicked up), when I hit him with the rope too hard to make him go faster- said he ended up hanging on the side but Lienie pulled him back on  ...I can see more doctor bills coming in the future....

I did get some great news today- the grandkids mother (#1 daughter) has been having hip pain- X-ray's yesterday showed a couple cysts in the bone in her hip area...Really had us uptight...Today the wife was able to do a bone scan on her and found no hot spots (malignancy) :D :) :) :D

That IS good news, OT.

Both for your daughter and for your grandkids and their friends.

Amazing what kids get away with.

The way you babysit reminds me of a friend of ours who was a tough
Wyoming Game Warden. He and his wife and grandkids were out
visiting us. His wife, Connie, and I were in the house. The Game Warden and Mr. FH was outside with the kids. Pretty soon the Game Warden came into the house and bellowed, "Connie, why aren't you watching these kids?" With him was the dirtiest, muddiest, little girl you ever saw.

Yep, those guys were yakking and not watchin'. The kids found a big
mud puddle and had a ball til they got caught. Still it was Gramma's
fault, and she wasn't even there...

Speakin of Grandma's Grandpa's watchin kids.....when Lil lilly was little, I was helpin Mr Lilly's granny can tomatoes in the kitchen. Tryin to keep the kids away from the big pots of hot water, and hot pans of tomatoes, the Mother in Law said she's watch the kids.
We'd worked in there most of the mornin, and MIL had stayed on the phone callin all her friends down here (was before they moved down here) I took a break from the kitchen, walked into the front room, where she sat at the old singer sewin machine talkin on the phone. Lil Lilly is standin there with Granny's big ole sewin scissors open, run up thru her hair on top of her head fixin to WHACK!!!!! I grabbed them from her before she could close em and do the deed. But, she'd already been at work, had cut several small chunks out of her bangs...and laid them in a lil pile on the corner of the machine. I bout had a fit. But it grew out, and she survived the swattin she got LOL But man oh man she'da looked funny with a reverse mohawk.

Ever tell a kid NOT to put liquid dishwashing soap into the dishwasher, they do it anyway so you have a MESS to clean up? Ask sw and his son, sw's man who did it anyway despite my rules. :? Sure made a mess :?

You all talking about this reminded me of when a friends son
shaved his eyebrows. He was about 10 years old; I guess he
watched his dad and he didn't have anything else to shave.

Boy, did he look odd. White skin where his eyebrows should
have been. Hilarous!!!!!!!!!!1

In my family, I was the oldest, then have 2 sisters each 2 1/2 years apart, then our brother was born exactly 2 weeks before I was 18.

My younger sister once cut the eyelashes off one eyelid.......she has the most gorgeous long, thick, dark lashes........mom just sat down and cried!

Al, when he was about 8, shaved his eyebrows until each was just about 1/2" long, right over the center of each eye.......that could be why they're so wild, now........

Wonder what it is about hair removal that's so tempting to kids? :???:

Instead of scissors and razors maybe they should experience the wax......that way they won't be tempted to do it again :D

thank goodness Lil Lilly nor the son ever shaved their eyebrows off. but.......a lil friend of hers did this recently.....and now draws them on.......with some sorta burgandy colored pencil......OH man it looks BAD!!!!!!

When I taught, I had a mom who kept hers shaved off and had home tattood some on, very v shaped and they were that crappy blue/green color that comes from a home tattoo. Was very hard to look her in the face when discussing her dear sweet daughter and not stare at those brows. looked kinda intimidating. :???:
