Cruz and the Angry Corn Farmer

That's interesting! Cruz says things I totally agree with re. subsidies, EPA, ethanol, and more. I've heard he isn't particularly supportive of agriculture, but maybe his attitude of taking away government blocks put in place to control farmers, and to remove taxes that harm us, programs such as the RFS which actually block middle mixes of ethanol which are used in other nations in cars built to use them, and that is prevented in the USA, we just might find better returns for agriculture with less govt. so called assistance, and also more fair and reasonable taxation. He probably won't go far enough for my preferences, but a few steps in the right direction just might show people that we would be better off with a Constitution based government instead of this 'nanny' government protecting us from ourselves in order to buy votes of the 'protected' classes!

Agreed. "Taxes that hurt us", in particular he mentions the death tax. I would hope we would see the elimination, or at least steps to lessen that with any of the Republican front runners, but haven't heard them address that yet. We can count on family farms and ranches to be "redistributed" with either Sanders or Clinton, I would suspect. Especially Sanders.

Why won't the MSM, including FOX NEWS, give Cruz his due? Fox talks about Rubio....in fact we were travelling and listened on XM radio. When we tuned in a bit late, it Rubio was talking and it sounded like he won. All the MSM can talk about is Rubio....and tonight Trump is taking the credit for such a great turnout for the caucus. I think Cruz is the reason for the great turnout, not Trump. An Iowa friend of ours said Trump made a big mistake skipping the debate. He said, "we don't mind being fly-over country, but we hate it when we get crapped on when they fly-over." Now he says Iowa didn't get mad at Trump....they got even. :)

Anything that squelches Trump a bit I think is good. Everyone needs a little humble pie.

I'm not aware of the oil subsidy the farmer referenced; unless it's something like depreciation on factors of production.

I resent some farmers' assumption to entitlement. I don't see much difference between their whining, and the welfare mom that won't get a job. Hell yes we must demand equity in the market - when we're denied access to Asian beef markets because of protectionist tricks for US manufacturing, we can't demand equity if we're getting subsidies. Those iowegians sure make farmers look stupid. Think about the cost structure in a bushel of corn - like land prices. It's hard to argue for subsidies while Iowa farmland is costing $15,000 per acre. The subsidies get bid into the land and in the end pervert and distort the market.

Cruz is right for on this one for sure even when the truth will cost votes among the idiots.

FH, I noticed the slight fox was giving Cruz also. I was initially puzzled by the spin, but not for long. Just because fox is more honest than CNBC, doesn't make them honest.

Excellent point and well taken! Mark Levin takes them to task over the slighting of Cruz. He also doesn't give the Republicans a pass. Guess that's why we like to listen to him.

I hope there are enough American people that see through the news bias.
