Jody that sounds a lot like the ingredient label of the 3V2S. Your blend has more of some things. Here is the 3V2S guaranteed analysis:

Calcium (Ca) min......13.50%
Calcium (Ca) max......16.20%
Phosphorus(P)min.......7.00%
Salt(NaCl)min.........18.20%
Salt(NaCl)max.........21.80%
Magnesium(Mg)min.......1.00%
Potassium(K)min........0.10%
Copper(Cu)min...........2000ppm
Selenium(Se)min...........26.40ppm
Zinc(Zn)min..............7500ppm
Vitamin A(min)IU/lb.....400,000
Vitamin D3(min)IU/lb.....20,000
Vitamin E(min)IU/lb.........200

Yes, it is almost the same. I'd like to see how much Vitamin E is guaranteed to be in it. Vitamin E is expensive and very important.

Based on MSU and CSU research, Vigortone added more zinc, because that makes the copper more readily available.

At any rate, it sounds fine RR. Guess you will know in a year.
Good luck with it.

Jody, is this the same mineral I saw you mention somewhere else that must be kept away from the sheep due to the copper content?

When I had sheep I fed TM salt and Crystalyx at times that had copper with no problems. I think both carried warning on the labels about feeding to sheep.

There is no warning one way or the other about feeding to sheep on the Vigortone tag but I wouldn't do it nor recommend it.

We tried flushing ewes one fall with Crystalyx, the ewes did goof but we tipped about a half dozen ewe lambs over, Vet wanted to cut them up and see , but kind of thought they couldn't handle the copper.

I am not so sure about that statement. Copper and Zinc are antagonists. Raising one is going to lower the blood concentration of the other. Balance is extremely important with certain minerals being synergists and certain minerals being antagonists/inhibitors of other minerals.

For example too much zinc in the diet of cattle (or humans) is going to lower copper status and vice-versa.

Maybe you better lay off the professional talk about vigortone since this is the second mistake. (Remember your post about iodine).

Vigortone is a good product and I am sure they would prefer their sales reps not be spreading untrue information.

Thanks for the heads up---or the put down.
The formula was changed BASED ON RESEARCH FROM CSU AND MSU.

The zinc/copper ratio from a 3 to 1 to a 5 to 1 (Vigortone sits at a 3.5 to 1)
gives us about an 80% copper liver store. 8 to 1 gives us 0 copper liver store. 2.7 to zinc to copper ratio only gave 15% copper liver store. (Based on research done on heifers with an antagonist with moly.)

Feel free to call John Patterson at MSU and look at his research.
