We finally gettin another cuttin of hay, this makes 2. Not gonna be enuff. Hopefully it'll rain somemore and we'll manage to get one more cuttin. Then it'd be nice if it's a mild wet winter so the grass'll keep growin.

this first picture is an old farm implement that's been layin in a neighbors pasture for 20 years I know, I've seen it and wondered what it was, but I can't tell. It's kinda mangled.

Mr. Lilly doesn't have anything to cover his head. He must not
like hats? Looks kinda hot out there.

Is that tractor a IH 300 Lilly? We have one that looks like it could
be the same tractor.

He decided a long time ago that hats and caps will make him go bald sooner...... :? Don't ask me where he got that notion. But he won't wear one. I won't either tho. Dad in law made me wear one a couple years ago when I was rakin hay.....100+ degrees out, and all it did was make me hotter. Like it was holdin the heat in. Didnt take me long to chunk it in the truck.
Todays high was a lil above 90, so it wasn't so bad.

The tractor is a Ford, think the numbers on it is 335, it was an industrial tractor. That's why it's numbers are different than Farm Tractors.

Cannot get our grandson to wear a hat either. He puts one on for awhile,
then it's off and layin' someplace. His dad doesn't wear a hat either.

I used to not, but I have some things on my eyeball caused from too
much sun, so now I notice when folks don't wear hats. I hope I
don't have to have these operated on. (Depends on how much they
grow.)

I will wear one in the winter time tho. :D Holds the heat in....that's what they always told us when I was a kid and it was snowin. So it only makes sense to me that if it's 100 degrees, that hat's gonna hold heat in then too.

You prolly can't tell it, but he has on his cut off Wranglers too while he was cuttin LOL

Because of our recent rains within the last 3 weeks, most around here are getting a 3rd cutting of hay, which is looking pretty good...

forth cutting is getting ready to kick off around here.. Got a big rain fircasted for this weekend as a cool front moves in.. Highs in high 60's for the weekend and lows down near 50 degrees... BRRRRRR... Going to feel good.

I always try to wear a hat, well a ball cap from one of the equipment folks that give them away or my trusty dusty cubs hat but in the heat all it does is keep me too warm. So I wear sunglasses in the summer to help keep my eyes proetected...

Can't say that I have ever worn a "cowboy" hat...Thought about getting one this summer but couldn't find one I liked all to much..

I have heard Mr. Lily's theory about going bald because of always wearing hats... Don't know if it is true or not but gosh all mighty it looks like I might have worn a hat to much growing up...

I've heard the same thing about wearing hats making you go bald, too. Has to have some grain of truth to it, because my hubby just has a fringe around the edges now after so many years of wearing one. When I met him, he had LOTS of hair! He blames me, though, says I nag him too much and that's what caused him to lose his hair. Whatever......

Lily a hat might be hot but you can tell Mr Lily he'll still be sexy if he's bald but when the doctors get to whittlin' on your ears and nose it kinda' spoils the looks.

On another note I liked the looks of little Lil's new horse. I was wondering that since she's riding these high powered horses if you had considered a pair of STI safety stirrups. I got my daughter a pair when she started riding colts. They have never had to breakaway because of a drag thank goodness but they also hang nicer and she doesn't loose he stirrups as easily. Just a suggesting. They have a web site.

BigMuddy,
I"ll mention the wittlin to him. Dunno if I'll mention the lookin sexy with a hat even if he's bald part tho LOL  that might git me in trouble.

Yes we've seriously concidered getting some of those break away stirrups. I first seen them on a commercial for them on RFD, more like a 30 minute program about them really, thanks for the reminder, I been aimin to order them and thats not somethin I should put off doin.

She and Mr Lilly have gone to the Feed store this mornin after a hackamore for her current horse. She rode him in one that was borrowed yesterday and oh man he worked nice. I could see it in his turns and she got off tellin me how smoooooooooth he was. Needa get one for sure and possibly another one.

Well we got the hay baled this evenin. Finished up at 3.7 bales per acre....normally we'd get 6 per acre. but it's better'n nothin. Didn't get too wet with yesterday mornin's drizzle. The sun burned off what clouds we had this mornin and by 3pm stuff was dry enuff to bale.
Now, weather man says it's supposed to rain Monday Tuesday and Wednesday....LET ER RIP!!!!!!!!!
