With the problems there are in the meat animal industry and those yet to come I don't think it does any of us any good to bash another segment of the industry. You might need a pig farming friend some day. Just sayin..........

Yep- and it looks like we're in for another fridgid blast next week- might keep the new year away for some time

Extreme Northern Plains Cold
Updated: Thursday, December 31, 2009 8:15 AM

A massive arctic air mass, something that we haven't seen the likes of in recent years, will push down into the United States next week. The sea of arctic air will cause temperatures to run 15 to 20 degrees below normal across a broad area. That's making a big statement in January, considering it's supposed to be cold to begin with. Ultimately, the arctic air mass will expand to cover all of the Central and Eastern parts of the country.

An unknown at this point is a possible storm that could have impacts from the eastern slopes of the Rockies to the Eastern Seaboard. We'll know more about that threat as time goes on. Right now, the thing looks pretty good on paper, but so have other potential storms that never materialized.

The problem with computer forecasts is if they pick up an error early, that flaw keeps getting magnified with time. In other words, in the longer term, the weather presented by the computer models often looks worse than it actually turns out.

Everybody likes ham (well, almost everybody), but nobody wants to live downwind from a hog farm.
When I was a kid, we lived about a 1/2 mile downwind-when we had a west wind- from a hog farm, I still love my spiral-cut smoked Christmas ham. :D

You know hm I have a baby brother that never wore deodorant. He was either to tight or to lazy to put it on. Fact is he stunk every where he went.

I would assume based on reading many of your posts you are quite like him. He complained about anyone and everyone else smell be it tobacco or spirits or someones farming odors. Fact is most humans cant smell their own dung but your crap stinks to anyone but you.

Sure do hate it about the chair darn shame he didn't set on the couch.

You whine about the weather you whine about the smell of pigs. Diapers the second time around will probably not come soon enough for you! If your family has any old pacifiers laying around dig one of them out see if it satisfies you.

I bet if you were sentenced to be hung you would cry if they didn't use a new rope.

Well now Pig Farmer, you're just cuttin' pretty hard there on ole Hay Maker. You just gotta remember that he's awful crotchety in the winter cuz his rheumatism gets to actin' up when the mercury drops below 70F.

He'd likely be in a better humor if he'd limber up and learn to play a few def leppard riffs on that Martin of his. Like pour some sugar on me and by george I'll bet it would sweeten up his cranky ole mood. It's a workin' man's song and I think he'd like it.

So back off of the ole Texan or you'll send him into despair like he's tryin' to do to you, right? And when it comes time if they ever try to hang me I'd want a new rope too, wouldn't you? I mean who'd want a rope that bin around who knows who else's neck? Hate to catch something from it.

HM I think you might want to read someones posts before you think all they do is raise pigs.

Wife and I HAVE 11000 grape vines 2 to 4 years old. We have 100 mama cows raise produce in the summer and hogs also 100 sows. We also operate a Custom Cabinet shop.

We also are looking forward to opening a whole hog barbque pit in the spring.

Now as to your thoughts as to ot and his big old baby boy I STAND BY MY POSTS ABOUT THE TENNIS SHOES AND THE TUX i thought it was tacky but maybe it was all the boy could afford.

Then again ot may be a selfish old coot and hoards his wealth he brags about from his family. So your thoughts about whats out of bounds to the politician are just your thoughts. he is a public figure and due the same respect he gives to others.

One last thought for you I don't remember all the people that think I AM OUT OF BOUNDS WITH ots boy coming to the defense of Sarah Palin or her Family.

I have never read a post of Old Timers that was outa line, not sayin I agree with his political views because i dont, never voted for a democrat in my life and never will, caint get past the minority rights issues.taxes and gun control, but freedom of speech and the right to choose is something I respect, just because a man is vigorously defending his position does not give another the right to call another a liar/drunk and a sorry SOB,like I stated how would you like one of your family members reading that stuff when you were on the recieving end ?
I am not sayin Old timer caint get sarcastic who caint ?
show me where he was outa line and I will quickly admitt I was wrong.
Sounds to me like you got your plate full with the farming and livestock, where are you located ?
good luck

PS You are right these are just my thoughts/2 cents

FIRST OFF HOW BIG A BOY ARE YOU?

We live in Ohio.

Now about the receiving end been there. I have taught my family and teaching 12 Grandchildren If one looks in the mirror and knows what is being said is true correct it and be a bigger and better person for it.

But if what is being said about them is not true let it roll off because while these ones are attacking you they are letting someone rest. By the way I learned things like that from an alcoholic Dad. I don't hide my dad's or my faults from my children or Grandchildren or any one else rather use them as tools to teach and build them up by.

After all GOD knows all about you or me and it will all be brought to light come Judgement day.

HM it was a Roy Mercer comment when you asked where I lived.

Not about your farming or ranching. Because with out the big and small operations we would all suffer.

Most people grow into the larger operations some inherit.

We went about things a little different than most. we bought and paid for our livestock and grew into the assets rather than buying a plot of ground and borrowing for land equipment and livestock.

Debt is a terrible thing to service from an up and down industry.

By the way wht is offensive about the word SOB. There is a big differenc in SOB AND S.O.B.

I don't think You will find the latter in my posts to anyone on this forum.
