How far east of you does the cold start Mrs. Greg? I was under the impression that some of Alberta and all of Sask. eastward was frigid. Plus 10C here right now.

This is a true story!

It's been so cold here that three times in the past week we've had to put air in the tires on the car. We've had what people here call "square tires". That's when it's so cold that your tires freeze and have a flat spot on the bottom. When you first start driving, they thump around until they limber up and then you're OK. These last three times we've used the car it's been so cold that when they thump around, they are coming off the rim enough to break the seal and go flat.

We carry a portable air compressor in the car that plugs into the cigarette lighter. You don't need it often, but when you need it, you really need it.

It was minus 35 this morning with a minus 46 windchill.

But it's supposed to warm up tomorrow, and be close to melting within a week. :D :D :D :D :D

Over inflate them....Over inflated tires are safer than under inflated- altho they may wear out a little faster... I went thru a law enforcement defensive/pusuit/winter driving course with the Montana Highway Patrol where Goodyear supplied all the tires and had us out there testing for them....On a several mile track- with all types of corners (some 90 degree even- old airport runway)-- and in colder weather or high speed quick turns we could roll the bead off almost all the tires if inflated to what the tire recommended-- caused some dynamic wrecks and rollovers   ...( Felt like a Highschooler again to have someone tell you to go out and run it as fast as you can into the corner and see if you can make it   )

But we found that pumping them up 20 lbs or so- no problems....
After that--We ran all the Department ( and MHP) vehicles with at least 15-20 lbs over the recommendation...I believe they may have wore the tires more- but it was worth it to not have a bead break and wreck or rollover- or flat tire at 30 below...

Well that sure is a pretty sight this time of year. Nothing like seeing that first calf hit the ground and starting a new season.

Unless it's seeing the last one land and end it!

Would that tom cat answer if you called him "Lazy"?
