He stepped out due to Tax problems

He stepped out because he's crook and the public sees it.

How many more glitches in these nominees (seated and not seated) will we find down the road?

Change, huh?

Yea buddy! Real change.

It's going to be a long 4 year ride..........

The only thing that has changed so far, is that the media has decided (somewhat) that nominees should be properly vetted, something Obama has not realized in a few ways, YET!

Daschle did do the right thing, he stepped down after it was found out he was a liar! Let's see if Obama has the same integrity?

Daschle may not have technically been a lobbyist, but in reality he sold his connections and information in "public service" to enrich himself and his clients. It wasn't a small enrichment either. It is a good thing the tax thing came to light so we could find this other about him.

I am tired of congressmen selling out the public interest before and after they do the people's bidding. They can not police themselves and this is another example. The self interests involved should never trump the interests of the general welfare (as in the Constitution, not welfare).

Money is buying our policy.

Why is it the Nominee's responsibility to admit they don't meet the ethical standards set by the President, and stand down?

Shouldn't the President enforce his own standards, and be responsible for them himself? If he doesn't, what does that say about him and his integrety?

Good point, shouldn't Obama show some integrity and stand up and remove these cheats himself instead of letting them decided rather they continue or pull themselves out of the race.

I think Obama is overwhelmed and does not know when to take a stand and when to pay his political debts.

Where is the Change we were promised?

This is the big point to this issue Daschle stepped down so he is a tax cheat with some integrity left. But according to Gibbs the WH never ask him to. Gibbs was asked several times and his answer was "how much clearer can I say it the WH didn't ask him to do it, it was all Mr. Daschle."

Obama still supported him and so did the Senate. Most figured he was a shoe in just last night. This speaks to Obama's integrity and credibility on his promise for ethics. He should have asked both Daschle and Geithner to step down but according to him they were the only people that were smart enough in the US to do the jobs he appointed them to.

I guess the final blow for Daschle was when the NEW YORK TIMES finally took notice of the crap Obama was doing and said hey enough is enough. You know it is bad when the Liberal bias New York Times has to step in and be the voice of reason

You're not getting it Reader. As Republicans, we were attacked by Democrats so critically, we have decided to be more invovled in Government nowadays.

We took your message to heart! This is about the future, and the ability to question those that are in charge.

You have preached it, but you haven't learned it!

Cheney himself was the original revolving door. From Govt to private sector where he got rich using his govt connections and then back to Govt where he enriched the company he was an executive in and cushioned a soft landing spot for himself. I could Google any number of senior Bush people and find tax problems or revolving door behavior and lobbyist. The top return however was about Cheney's son-in-law...

I'm not saying this behavior is right. I'm saying where were all of you staunch defenders of ethics during the administration of your beloved Bush?

April 2005 President George Bush has nominated the Vice-President's son-in-law, Philip Perry, as general counsel of the Homeland Security Department, where he would oversee 1500 lawyers who work on legal matters like Coast Guard maritime laws and immigration.

The nomination comes after Elizabeth Cheney, the Vice-President's daughter and Mr Perry's wife, was appointed last month by the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, as the second-ranking US diplomat for the Middle East.

Mr Perry faces a confirmation hearing in the Senate.

Mr Perry is leaving Latham & Watkins, a law firm where he was a partner and a lobbyist for the weapons firm Lockheed Martin, one of the top 10 contractors for the domestic security department.

Before joining Latham & Watkins, Mr Perry was general counsel of the White House Office of Management and Budget and, before that, acting associate attorney-general at the Justice Department.

In 2000 Mr Perry worked on the Bush-Cheney presidential transition team and was an adviser to Mr Cheney as he prepared for the vice-presidential debates.

Lockheed Martin and partners have won hundreds of millions of dollars worth of commitments in the past two years for its products and services, including a contract to train airport security screeners for the Transportation Security Administration and to help build Coast Guard cutters and helicopters.

Its just that now we were hopping for Change! And all we are getting is a Obamabush instead!

If McBush would have won and did all this would you have been outraged and posting your outrage on here? That is the true question to ask yourself to know rather you are truly honorable in your intentions!

If McCain would have appointed 3 tax cheats would you have been outraged and if so how do you look in the mirror if you do not share that same outrage with Obama?

Liberals may not want to answer the above in text but you can not run from what you now have learned about yourself!

That's BS and you know it. You would have defended any Republican lobbyist or candidate with a skeleton in the closet with your last breath.

This is B.S. and you should know it. That is the difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives take responsibility for their own actions and we are quick to condemn those in our own ranks who screw up. Take for instance, Larry Craig. There isn't a conservative on here who didn't wish for his departure. Liberals are quite another matter. They don't take responsibility for their own actions, let alone those of their leaders. Liberals are off in La La Land, out for instant gratification, with no thought or plan for tomorrow. They don't have any high standards to go by. They tend to scoff at Christianity and laugh off the teachings of the Bible, which at least gives some high moral standards to use as a yardstick. The worst thing about liberals is that plain and simple logic doesn't ever enter their minds. Pure old common sense is not common with liberals.
