Date movie

“Flicka” it a great movie for a Daddy-Daughter date . Especially if you have a daughter that’s just a little horse crazy and the one child that wants to come back and run the ranch.
Mary O’Hare wrote the book on the ranch that a good friend now owns. Probably been a close to 40 years since I read the book, they made the movie politically correct but I still enjoyed it with my daughter punching my side , and laying her head on my arm , and crying during the show.

I was disappointed to hear that it is so much different than the book. I probably won't see it til someone rent it and brings it out. Or until my aunt buys it and I can borrow it :p

Like I said its been close to 40 years since I read the book.I do remember that it was back in the days before trailors when we hauled horses and cows on the back of straight trucks. So the move is brought up to today. The storyis still good as it is a conflict betewwen a strong tom boy daughter and a even more demanding father and the same porblems that have allway been in Ag ... we will make it next year. Oh the senery is great! but then it was flimed in Wyoming !!!

I'll just keep taking her to her tumbling and take her in the truck out into the calvng pastures and doing cores and tat wll have to do for now... She is starting to get a bit pony crazy now however...

I loved the movie. Went with my cousin, and it is a GREAT FAMILY MOVIE. Even ole TIM McGraw actually did a great job...not like Friday Night Lights. The movie is quiet a bit different even for the times. I was visiting with someone else about Rodney McDowell being the star in the old movie....The new movie still has the same feelings as the old movie, a cold man weakens to a horse and finds compassion for the sake of his child.

It was a good movie, that ya tear up and then smile at the end...it has a happy ending.

Well she nis allergic to dairy for the most part so ice cream is not a good treat for her (Although she loves it she just doesn't tolerate it well).. It is okay, her and I spend a LOT of time together. She rides with me to the sale barns if we are selling, goes with me to the vet to pick up stuff we need and the feed stores... She is my little budy and it is good for mom that the little one likes to ride with dad... She has chased me down the driveway screaming wait, wait if I try to leave without her.. Oh well, 95% of the time she can come so it is not big deal.. My daughter and I are very close, but will have to keep building the relationship as she gets older... Probably a lunch once a week or something like that would be good for both of us.

I have a 13 year old that was like that when she was young. We are very close now and even though she's a teenager I can actually talk to her and she gives me a hug everyday.I have an 8 year old that can't leave without a hug I sure like those hugs makes a Grumpy man's day.My seven year old son just say's see ya Daddy as he races out he's busy busy busy. My oldest daughter lives with here Mom and is a typical town kid she does'nt have much time for us country folk.My kids have spent alot of time in tractors and trucks when we were building alot of trailers and delivering them we would drive to Montana on a friday night and home on saturday night 500 miles each way one winter we went 8 weekends in a row try that with 6 kids 2 that were 3 and 4 years old.

Two boys for us..... We did the long trip thing too....Hubby's idea of a vacation is getting into the vehicle and just driving.... Youngest was a really bad traveler...... Bawl and carry on......... How did we do it???
Oldest we could and did take everywhere...
I do get tired of all tetesterone some days... But both boys are fun and good kids.. Hubby was and is very good to take the kids.. Did diapers and the whole nine yards..Little weak on repremendments.... Just kills him to get after them hard.....But couldn't ask for a better father... Hopefully both boys are great husbands and fathers when they grow up......
