Daughter went horseback riding, lol..

Well heck JB, if she was a good lookin woman the least she could have done was model them, you know, so you can get pictures for advertisements for future clients    Yeah, that would be more information than I would want too...

Don't know what folks would think of me walking around in chaps (And pants Judith, don't forget the pants) or chinks around here.. Who cares

I dint say I was going to brand anything  ( can you imagine what would happen if I had a point fire stick, sheesh.... ), That's for the pros ! I'd be like the calf flattener :) ( I think that's the professional term isnt it  )

Great pictures Ill Rancher!!!! I love the one with the horses ears and your girl.... I think the second one........ That is worth framing........
I'm glad to see that she is wearing a helmet and all the tack looks good and fits the horse well....
I have to agree with everyone else, you are suckered in to horses now and have created a monster. Be prepared to be horse poor now...
Shiney bald heads don't bother me........... I'd rather see a bald head than a drug store cowboy.... (ditto on the palm hat, once ya find a good one.... there is no comparison.)

Good pics IL Rancher. I still think the best way to raise a kid is on the back of a horse. I wouldn't recommend doing this but is what I did when we were looking for a good kid's horse. Firstly it was about a 2 year search before I found what I wanted. We heard the usual sales pitch and saw the kids that had outgrown this horse. I liked what I saw and decided to give him what I think is the ultimate test. And this is what I don't recommend. I waited for the horse to be distracted and grabbed him quick, hard and fast in the flank area just ahead of his hind legs. This can be a ticklish area for a horse. I figured if he was going to kick this would set him off. I would rather take the kick than have one of the kids get it. He just grunted a little and that was it. I wrote the cheque, took him home and he was excellent. Countless kids rode him. No one ever got hurt except for the odd scratch when they fell off. He could gage the riders ability and would act accordingly. If someone was starting to fall off he would slow down or stop on his own. I also wouldn't let my kids ride with a saddle , always bareback, until they got older and I saw that their balance was good. It was also a safety thing for me as I didn't want them to get hungup in a stirrup or something. Kind of like a kid starting out riding a bicycle with or without training wheels.

Bareback was how I learned to ride. When I finally got a saddle I didnt use it much cause it felt ' wrong' to me.

Well for now the lessons are more about getting her bearings around horses and geting a bit more comfortable around them.. I am not worried at al about the riding now as I am about her having a good time, developing a love for the critters and than taking care of Dad's horse in a few years so he doesn't have to when it is -20 out.. Wait, did I say that out loud     .. I was talking to my wife a few weeks or months back when we first started working towards getting Anya on a horse about a family activity and how I was really wanting horseback riding as one of them because I see the families were I ride and I think it works.. The boy is in awe of the criiters but he keeps trying to ride the dogs so I think he wants to ride horses.. But to be honest he was most intrigued by Rural Heritage draft horses than the riding horses on RFD>.
