DENVER -- Daylight Savings Time is just a couple of days away.

It begins at 2:00 a.m. this Sunday, March 11, 2007. The time to "spring forward" happens three weeks earlier than in the past, because of a new law.

Move your clocks AHEAD one hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

Daylight Savings Time used to begin on the first Sunday in April and end on the last Sunday in October.

But the dates change this year. It begins the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November, so we have four extra weeks of Daylight Savings Time this year.

Why is it changing? The theory is that if there is more daylight into the evening, we will save energy. So, on August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.
