DDG Question--HELP!!

If he is feeding it by its self in a bunk, they do take awhile to learn to eat it. if it is mixed in a ration they love it. Calves take awhile to learn to eat a fine ground ration. They will learn to eat it that way, it just takes awhile.

With the dried distillers mixed with ground hay and silage, they will come to the bunk better than without it in the ration.

It should smell something like a cross between bread baking and beer when it is fresh delivered. It should smell good, if it does not then that could be the problem.

Thanks all and thanks, Denny. Maybe I should find out where it came from. Can you tell by look or smell if it has been burnt? How do you know?

If it's a darker brown chances are it has been burnt. If it's done properly it is a gold color a little bit darker than soybean meal.If they burn it the nutrient value goes down quickly.
Fh it smells scorched. DDG also comes in a brown color which is made from something besides corn (I think) maybe milo or something.

I think I've showed these before but here's what it looks like and here's what steers eating it look like. Of course the dates are wrong. I never seem to get that set. I think this was last year.
