My apology for making derogatory remarks about sheep,I had no idea you were keeping sheep,my apology mam,it was not intended to be mean, everyone knows running sheep, and cattle compliment each other,my fences have never been tight enough to practice this method of ranching here in the TX Hill country,as they are all 5 strand barbed wire, and way to many varmints for it to be practical in South TX....................good luck
Aw, shucks Hay Maker, you’re making me blush!!
I took your comments in stride and I sure didn’t take them personal. If I held derogatory statements about sheep against those who made them, I wouldn’t have been able to speak to my own dear Dad.
Dad hated the wooly buggers, but then he was raised by my grandfather who raised horses next to a crooked sheep man he had worked for at one time. Their relationship deteriorated when the sheep man had all his cowboys take up homesteads that they were then supposed to turn over to him.
Grandpa homesteaded and decided to start ranching on his own instead of giving it up to a fellow he had no love for anyway. Things got worse over time until the sheep man had one of his hired men shoot Grandpa. It almost killed him, but unfortunately for both the sheep man and his hired man, it didn’t. I’ll leave the story there…
Hope you get some rain down there soon. Right now we’re getting a mixture of snow and rain and the wind is blowing a gale. It’s miserable out there, but what the heck, at least it’s wet!!
