They are using Park Service sharp shooter to cull deer and give the meat to homeless shelters and food banks.

Of course they have the protesters not wanting a kill but a spay and neutering program.

Wonder why wolves are the solution for western people to deal with but easterner don't want wolves in their neighborhoods

so they are destroying property

What do you think theyd say if I shot a couple and gave the meat away.
After all they destroy my property.

What about the wildlife agencies increasing populations and the motorist want to soot a couple because they destroyed their car.

The arrogance of it all

Do your Wildlife Services now believe that releasing wolves was a mistake? I have never came across a single report of the wolves being a good fit. As far as the parks in DC, I think that hunting for the food bank is as close to a win-win as your gonna get. With butchering costs it sure wont be free meat, but it is the cheapest option.

you are forgetting a few of the "other" costs.. the sharpshooters will be paid, .. and will need local police or park police to cordon off the area, just to make sure no one "freaks" out seeing a guy with a rifle.. and to keet the peta idiots from running through the woods with brown winter coats to "save" the deer..

around here the deer are small,.. and do not yield a large amount of meat. the few I saw in the DC area are not much different..

With that cost consideration I doubt it is much cheaper then purchased meat.. but I support the hunt.. it is time for liberals to face the consequences of their misguided policies..

Government paid sharpshooters cost money. A special draw for hunters would increase revenue....not too bright are they?

Ding, ding, ding, ding! Bow hunters work really well for urban deer population control. Revenue, happy hunters with a local hunting option, deer control, happy home owners. We have a winner. Therefore, do not expect this to occur in dc.

to be honest.. the park is in the city.. given the close proximity to homes and business public permits might not be a feasible plan. .as the map shows .. (green area upper center is where the main culling will happen)

to me Bow or cross bow would be ideal for hunting, and one of the few realistic options for a public hunt..

No Hunting
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Hunting
No Hunting is a 1955 American animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions

Plot

Donald Duck is enjoying a luxurious meal under a large portrait of his pioneering grandfather. The narrator notes that Donald's life is significantly easier than that of his ancestor who had to hunt in order to survive. Donald then sees that hunting season begins the next day and, possessed by the spirit of his grandfather, decides to participate.

When Donald arrives at the hunting grounds that evening, he finds it extremely overcrowded. Local residents go into hiding as vendors set up shop; the deer in the forest, represented by a cameo of Bambi and his mother, leave the area after seeing loads of litter wash downstream.

The precise opening of hunting season that night unfolds in dramatic fashion. The scenes evoke stereotypical war films, depicting trench and tank warfare, amphibious landing craft, and hunters parachuting into the forest. At the end of the day, the discouraged hunters trudge home across a war-torn landscape. Yet the narrator notes that the day was "not without game", as Donald's grandfather presents a cow, taken from a local farm, which had the word "cow" painted on it so the hunters would not confuse it for a deer.

The media and Disney have skewed the facts of life for so many. I dont think the peta folks and mainly their followers have even thought through what they advocate.
But the left has a problem seeing anything other than the surface of issues.
They think they have the all time perfect plan for a utopia
