Sen. John McCain's advisers are denying assertions The New York Times published that McCain once had a close relationship with a female lobbyist whose clients had business before his Senate committee.

Arizona Sen. John McCain speaks during a campaign rally in Ohio on Tuesday.

1 of 2 The newspaper reported in its online edition Wednesday that aides to McCain's 2000 presidential campaign were so worried about the relationship that they confronted McCain and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman.

This is old news, Sugar. Just an accusation at this time - maybe true, maybe not.

Probably the first of many accusations to come from the liberal media. Before this is over, I think we'll see them do anything and everything to get their boy elected.

Now, for my "rush to defend!!"...

At least it's a girl.

I'm a lttle confused here..... Saying that Rush needs to DEFEND insinuates that McCain did something wrong, but I don't recall any Democrats saying Bill was wrong in playing "Hide the Cigar" with Monica.

Monica was just one. If she had not had the stain still on the dress, she would have gone on the other list, bottom of page 7.

Did I miss where anyone, anywhere, should pay creedence to anything written by the New York Times?

Actually some of this info was floating around 8 years ago when McCain was running for President against GW and doing the playing.....

Kind of comical- at that time McCain accused King George and his queer little hatchet man "Miss Piggy" Karl Rove for digging it up......But now he- as a King George loyal subject- will have to blame the Democrats....

I think you may be getting ahead of yourself in your wishful thinking.

He just basically called his staff liars.....I'd say they're not gonna like that one bit!! Someone will counter this and it might be worth watching.

What is also funny is that the NYTimes also came out yesterday endorsing McCain and Hillary--and that this is the paper who did some pretty good investigative reporting jobs on Bill with some of the exposure articles they did on his dilly dallying......

I still get the feeling, they have evidence on some of this- and are going to let McCain paint himself into a corner with denials- than lower the boom....

Just look at the wording they use and you can tell they are trying to create a story to smear.

Close Relationship

Concerned advisers.

Someone could say Texan and Kolan have a close relationship due to how much time they spend online talking to one another.

It sounds like to me they got someone to say they had a close relationship, heck we all have close relationships with family and friends.

And many wives may be concerned when they see their husbands talking and laughing with another woman. But that does not mean they are sleeping with them.

I would bet no evidence comes of it, it is just a smear campaign to start putting some doubts into McCains character. Because his Character is what will most likely win this election for him!

.if it's old news and it's just NOW hitting the news services..

it's all about timing....

It's now hitting the News,...Just days after McCain calls out Obama on ethics... not bad timing....

Its' now hitting the news after McCain becomes the GOP front runner.. not in December when the Times was endorsing McCain in the primaries... Now that is timing...

It's hitting the News now, not in 98 when it happened,.... because McCain didn't have a chance in hell,.. in 98... in 98 it would have been buried on the back pages.. today it is headline news... now that's timing...

and as I recall,.. not many conservatives are overly happy with McCain... but many of those who have resigned to support him.. will see through the smear,..
but the independant vote that carried Mccain to front-runner status,... and who can't read beyond the headlines will abandon Mccain..

The comical and ironic thing is that this probably was a Karl Rove originating story- as it originally surfaced in 2000--when McCain was running against GW- and GW had Rove as his hatchetman....  :p

Kind of funny- McCain gets "Swiftboated" by his own party's hatchetman  :p

McCain expected this to resurface- as he had already hired an attorney (Bill Bennetts brother) months ago to prepare the groundwork to counteract it...
