People who voted for Tester can pat themselves on the back and try to deceive themselves into thinking that they did a good thing. But the truth is that they helped give control of the Senate to the likes of Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Barbara Boxer, etc. In effect, a vote for Tester was the same thing as a vote for Ted Kennedy. I wonder how that makes them feel?

And you would have voted for the crook that was in the lobbyists pocket so deep that he'd spend taxpayers dollars on any project his buddy lobbyist pointed to? :???: ...Like going against all BIA and Dept of Interior guidelines (even going so far as to write a special bill) to fund a project for the richest Indian tribe in the nation-especially when he has opposed most Indian projects for tribes in his own state....

That way of thinking is what has happened the last few years to the Republican party- a party I have backed for years- and the party that I always thought of as the party of morals and ethics-law and order---- which I now have to question...Both the Montana and National Republican Party should have dropped old Conman like a hot potato--just like they finally did with Ney and Delay-- and ran an honest, ethical, viable candidate (Rehberg?)...They have no one else but themselves to blame....

And the Republican Party has no one else to blame for the arse kicking they took on Nov 7 or the one they may take in 2008 if they don't make some changes....The party that I always thought of as the fiscal conservative party and that has controlled both the Administration and Congress, now has the biggest national debt in history...This party that historically has believed in smaller federal government has now built the largest federal bureaucratic machine in history- while going against their beliefs in states rights and taking away more civil rights, liberties, and states rights while adding more government regulation than any administration since FDR....They have forgot the historic conservative stance of backing national sovereignty in their zeal to please the big corporate and multinational interests, by selling out many of our freedoms and rights to the world trade groups-- and have went so far as to go behind the publics backs to promote a complete sell out by formation of a North American Union....Then in their neo conservative following of the big business lobbyists they even went away from the law and order following by ARROGANTLY, blatently avoiding enforcement of laws against illegal aliens, employers that hire illegal aliens, the PSA Act, the M-COOL law passed in the 2002 farmbill, etc. etc....

Are the Dems and Tester going to do any better? Maybe not- but can they truly do much worse :???:

I do know that Jon Tester more supports my moral/ethical/ and law and order values than Conrad Burns did....

Sounds more Conservative than many of the so-called "supposedly conservative" Republicans......I watched the show- and he thought they needed laws regulating and requiring transparency on all gratuities- from lobbyist paid meals to airline trips...And that those rules should also pertain to all the staff/aides.......Probably won't get much support from the rest of Congress, as they don't want to give up their "perks"...But since they think its good enough for lower government workers- it should be good for the lawmakers/administrators also......

Conrad and his staff would have starved to death with rules keeping them from eating at Abramoffs restaurant- and one staffer would have missed a Super Bowl trip    ...

Tester champions ethics reform on "Meet The Press"

By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Sen.-elect Jon Tester of Montana called for ethics reform and more transparency in Washington Sunday, appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press" with Virginia Sen.-elect Jim Webb.

The two Democrats answered questions on ethics, the Iraq war and the economy. Tester and Webb won the most closely contested Senate races Nov. 7, defeating Republican Sens. Conrad Burns and George Allen. Both races were decided by less than a percentage point.

Tester, who campaigned on the ethics issue, said Democrats would come up with an ethics reform plan.

"Transparency in government is the key" he said. He said he thinks Congress needs to "get a hold of the earmarks situation" and make sure that it is clear which lawmakers are behind provisions inserted into bills.

Earmarks are dollars set aside by lawmakers for specific pet projects.

Tester said lawmakers should also post information about meetings with lobbyists.

"The fact is, the people back home need to know who we are meeting with so they have the opportunity to put their two bits in too,"
he said.

During the campaign, Burns championed his seniority in Congress and his ability to bring federal dollars back to Montana. He sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, which doles out federal dollars.

But Tester hammered Burns for his connections to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who, along with his clients and associates, gave $150,000 to Burns' campaign committees. Burns later gave the money away, but the issue stuck in the mind of some Montana voters.

"In the end we need to have people in Washington, D.C., who are honest and can't be bought," Tester said Sunday.

Tester stopped short of endorsing a new government office of public integrity, an idea supported by some Democrats.

"Building a bureaucracy in Washington, D.C, is not something that I'm crazy about, so developing another office is something I'd have to take a hard look at before we did it," he said.

I'm for an honest government, who isn't :???:

We'll see what Tester can do, he can talk all he wants we'll just see what he can do.

The Dems are no better, now they have "it all" maybe they'll spend their time doing something rather than dig up dirt on Repubs. I hope Repubs spend time digging up "dirt" but I don't think they (we) play that way.

Come and get me :p

Hanta- I pretty much agree with you   Altho I don't think either party has the monopoly on mudslinging and digging dirt.....I seem to remember a Republican President that took a fall over a burglary to the Democratic headquarters.....

The only "Come and get me" I got for you is, like Haymaker said up above , How come you and Lilly and some of these ladies all think your backsides look better than your frontsides in all these pictures you post :???:
