Alabama state Rep. Ralph Howard was arrested Sunday in Greensboro for allegedly using a shotgun to shoot out two tires on his wife's car, according to the Sumter County Record-Journal.

Greensboro Police Chief Mike Hamilton told the Record-Journal that Howard, D-Greensboro, was arrested without incident, and spent one night in the Hale County Jail before making bond.

He is charged with domestic violence, reckless endangerment, and harassment, the paper said.

A call to the Montgomery office number listed on Howard's Alabama Legislature website went unanswered; his district phone number repeatedly gave a busy signal.

This is not Howard's first run in with the law.

In 1999, Howard was charged with assault in the second degree after allegedly shooting a man in the thigh. The case was dismissed after the complainant did not appear in court.

In 2013, Howard was charged with DUI, and reportedly had a blood alcohol level of .24.

The following year, he was cited for driving while his license was revoked, with an expired tag, and without insurance. Those charges were dismissed.

According the Alabama Legislature's website, Howard was elected to the Alabama House in a 2005 special election. His district, House District 72, covers parts of many Black Belt counties including Perry County, Marengo County, Hale County, Bibb County, Greene County, and Sumter County.
