CNN Poll: Did White House order IRS targeting?

Washington (CNN) – A growing number of Americans believe that senior White House officials ordered the Internal Revenue Service to target conservative political groups, according to a new national poll.

And a CNN/ORC International survey released Tuesday morning also indicates that a majority of the public says the controversy, which involves increased IRS scrutiny of tea party and other conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, is very important to the nation.

Republicans argue that the Obama administration used the IRS to intimidate and harass political opponents. Democrats say poor management at the tax agency, rather than political bias, is to blame. Congressional sources on both sides say that interviews with IRS workers so far have found no evidence of political dealings by the White House. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, touting an independent IRS inspector general report, has said the scrutiny appears to have originated with "IRS officials in Cincinnati," where the agency's tax exempt division is centered.

GOP tries to keep focus on IRS targeting scandal

Last month only 37% of the public thought that the IRS controversy led to the White House, with 55% saying that agency officials acted on their own without direct orders from Washington. Now the number who say the White House directed that IRS program has increased 10 points, to 47%, virtually the same as the 49% who believe the IRS agents acted on their own.

"Younger Americans are much less likely than older Americans to believe in White House involvement, and there is, not surprisingly, a partisan divide as well," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "But the Obama administration may be losing independents on this matter. In May, only 36% felt the White House ordered the IRS to target conservative groups; now that number has crossed the 50% threshold."

Fifty-one percent of those questioned said the IRS controversy is a very important issue to the nation, compared to 55% who felt that way in May. In the past week and a half, the IRS story has been put a bit on the backburner, as the controversy over the federal government's massive surveillance program has dominated the spotlight.

The poll was conducted for CNN by ORC International June 11-13, with 1,014 adults nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

I've just reached the point where I say, "what's it matter now if the White House was directly involved?". The damage is done. Enough of the stupid numbnuts who voted for him the first time pulled the lever again and now he's got three and half more years to complete the total farking of America.

About all that's left for those of us who knew what was coming from the beginning is to get some personal satisfaction out of seeing liberals swallow bad clams as they try to defend him, or sit silently staring at their shoes in the knowledge that they're complete tools and hypocrites.

One of the things that most bothers me about these scandals is the widespread use of duplicate/false e-mail accounts so many in this administration is using to hinder any investigations and skirt Federal Records.

Like Lisa Jackson's using an account named "Richard Windsor" for business use in the EPA.

We may know what happened and be without the proof to convict...........

Richard Windsor, the e-mail alias employed by former EPA administrator Lisa Jackson to communicate with high-level Obama administration officials, environmental activists, and other top EPA officials, is still listed in the agency’s digital directory as an EPA employee, according to an agency employee who asked to remain anonymous.

"what's it matter now if the White House was directly involved?"

by the answers given in the testimony.. either outright lies.. taking the 5th,..

or claiming to not know what was happening,...

one thing is self evident...

either the liberals in the whitehouse are not in charge and the mid level managers are running the country.. or jay carney has used up all the good excuses and lies..

This Administration proves with every, under oath, testimony given by the Heads of Departments that the government is simply to d*mn big. If the Heads of the Departments and the President that is suppose to be the leader over all of them, have NO IDEA what is going on then they drastically need to DOWNSIZE. If the IRS can't control their agents now how are they going to ever control them when there are thousands more running around enforcing Obamacare? OR are they controlling them and giving them their marching orders on everything from tax collection to targeting Conservatives? I'm betting they are controlling everything but the lies coming out of their own mouths.

Credit to Rush on this, but in all the digging, burrowing, sifting of history, there is not 1 link to Hitler and the holocaust. He didn't have to, need to or anything else, his henchmen knew their job, and knew it to the letter.
The same for the blind following the blind, they feel this is their destiny, to screw over every breath of oppossion, no matter legal or not, ethical or not, right is in the eye of who is looking.
Every one of them will scream racist if you question them, bigot if you speak outside the lines, and most of all, un American if you vote otherwise.

When Americans elect a president who believes his political opponents are the enemy, this is what you get.

I was just reading an article about how the justice department's seizure of AP phone records has had a chilling effect on news gathering....both sources and reporters. When the article said this:

This rationale would mean news organizations would never know when its records are being obtained, news sources would become less willing to speak and "the public will only know what the government wants them to know."

I though, well duh, isn't that exactly what the current regime wants?

There is little doubt as to how our Founding Fathers would view this. They would not approve.

This dilemma is approaching a major junction for Liberty in the future.

I want my country back......................
