There is considerable angst in the country against attacks on Obama's comments that "we need to share the wealth" because, as the Obama supportrs claim, "our tax dollars go to rebuild Iraq, and put money in fat-cat bankers pockets already".
One, the "wealth spreading", a.k.a. Redistribution of Wealth, is taking tax money paid by people who pay Federal Income Taxes and giving it mostly to people who DO NOT pay Federal Income Taxes as a "tax rebate". That CANNOT be a rebate if no taxes were paid, therefore, it is a redistribution of wealth.
The tax dollars from Income Tax paying citizens are used, all too often foolishly or improperly, but also to repair and rebuild our own infra-structure, conduct necessary government business, and to give welfare and other benefits to many citizens in this country, many of whom pay NO income taxes, and also to some who do pay (mostly) small amounts of income taxes, based on need.
The whole thing is based on that well known Marxist/Socialist mantra": "From those who are able to those who are in need", which was tried, and which failed miserably, in the earliest days of colonists on this continent.
When more and more people in a country are getting money from government, taken from the few people who DO pay income taxes, it will not be long before those few paying taxes either CANNOT or WILL NOT continue to pay the taxes that support the many, will it?
