Approximately three-fourths of total USDA spending is classified as mandatory, which by definition occurs outside the control of annual appropriations. Eligibility for mandatory programs is usually written into authorizing law, and any individual or entity that meets the eligibility requirements is entitled to the benefits authorized by the law. Currently accounting for the vast majority of USDA mandatory spending are the food stamp programs.

Seeing the liberal policy against Farming/Ranching in this area would be enough to get any one to vote Republican....
I seldom agree with the fed policy in the whole on Ag....
I would like to see the welfare (food stamps) put in the budget it belongs in...then the world would see the actual bargain the US farmers and ranchers are....
But the demorats will not do that because it would expose more of the real cost of the welfare program to the voters....

No, you'll just sit by as the president enters into more and more back ended free trade agreements that screw the US farmer and rancher. As much as you profess to hate the French we are playing into the EU's hands with more FTA's and less subsidies. I will agree the US farm subsidy system seems to be broken and I'm glad bush want's to limit farm subsidies to anyone with an adjusted gross farm income over $200,000. To many Bush buddies have farms and ranches soley as tax shelters. One problem I have is that government loan programs will take a hit as they are "sought after by trade unions". If any ag program works in this country I would think it would be this one. Any way it's good to see Bush finally has got something right, i've been waiting 6 years.
.......and the world is billions or years old, the universe started out of "nothing", the democrats are here to help you, etc. You are unaware of reality.kolanuraven said:eventhough they didn't elect him, he's got the job now!
Steve, did you send Work/Study a personal message saying that you "hate" the French?
if welfare programs that benefit those that don't qualify(cheaters in whatever manner to get benefits) were eliminated, or could be eliminated,
